christianity

Thanks again, all. Sorry to disappoint any of you, but I’m not going anywhere anytime soon! I will resume ‘listening’ (reading) now as I have up until a few days ago.

i am not christian and i don’t know if i understand your question. does one’s beliefs and background affect what they read?

Here’s the deal lonnie: I only post on this site occasionally,
and when I do post, it’s on the “T/N” board. (which is
unarguably the best on the web) The one common thread
people on this message board have is training; either they
have a love for training, or they want learn from those who
do! YOU, come on to this board never having posted before…
YOU, post a generic thread, which looks like it was designed
to fit numerous message boards, and be CLUSTER POSTED!!!
(The aim being to get people to accept YOUR theology…!?)
YOU, eventually give us a loooong detailed profile about who
YOU are…and what YOU stand for… but funny thing, YOU
never mentioned YOUR STANCE ON TRAINING. So, it “seems”
like the only reason you came to this board is to
PROSELYTIZE!!! So, some of us can’t help but think your
a …TROLL!!!

PEACE …Boley

I usually stay away from certain post (especially religion) because 1) they usually don’t lead to any meaningful discussion, only people spitting out their dogma and hate and 2) they are often filled with arrogance. From this type of atmosphere, at the very best we learn nothing and at worst people merely become ingrained deeper in their hate filled beliefs.

Since I look at this Forum as one of learning and understanding, I felt I had to reply.

1)For those who profess to follow The Master, you had best take another look at his life and Ministry before “you stick your nose up” at others. He was born “illegitimately” to unmarried parents in a place that the “religious” looked down on (“Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” If we put it in modern context, maybe East L.A.?). He ministered among whores, money changers, lepers, thieves, “the uncircumcised” and the downtrodden. He picked His disciples from ordinary men. He preached Love, understanding, and change that comes from within.

So can you see my problem when someone comes along who professes to follow The Master, and finds it “ooohhh so hard” to read words from a comfortable Desktop, written in Cyberspace, by someone they have never seen and heard, and then place themselves “above” them, perhaps not intentionally, but certainly by the tone of their statements? Then on top of that make themselves “pseudo-victims” to this terrible Den of Heathens known as “The Forum?” Ye who is without Sin, cast the first stone…

2)Some of the most UN-Christlike behavior that I see exhibited is by those who profess to follow the ways of The Master. I feel more Love and Understanding among the Heathens of some dumb Forum in Cyberspace than I think I would ever feel in a Revival or while watching some Televangelist. And yes…we’ve gotten a taste of that tone and feeling with this post and some of the responses…

If you wish to follow the ways of The Master, then don’t judge others whom you feel may “offend” you, especially when maintenance of your “purity” is a mouse click away. Teach all of us about Nutrition and Workouts instead of sticking your nose up at the “unclean and uncircumcised”. “Come Follow Me…”

Mufasa

mufassa, Jesus was not “The Master.” maybe you are thinking of yoda or mr. miagy(sp?)… I can agree that many so-called religous people do tend to ignore some of the teachings, but to err is human. we arent perfect, and just because we seek forgiveness from Jesus doesnt mean we have to be or think we are. I dont know if you believe in any mainstream or fringe religion, or have a faith of any kind, i cant quite tell from your post… but some people do go overboard in their “quest for salvation,” and do tend to ignore the obvious. like not clicking on the penis size and women threads. its as easy as that. i attended a church for a short time a few years back, until the minister told me i was going to burn for my vanity. then he took hold of his wifes hand, who clearly spent at least 11 hours on her friggin makeup, and left in their luxory atoumobile. hypocrasy at its finest. but that doesnt mean he was not a good person. misguided and arrogant, yes. bad person, i dont know. and who am i to judge? it really erfs me when people think those w/ some kind of faith must act hollier than others. we make mistakes just like every other human on the planet. we are not perfect. none of the disciples were perfect. only God’s love is perfect. so, I understand your pov, but i just didnt dif the whole “The Master” stuff. been watchin too much kirate kid?

I’m just not sure what parts of the forum or T-mag would be offensive. I mean, sure, T-mag and the forum talks about sex. What, Christians don’t like sex? (Picture good, after marriage, lights off sex at least.) Christians don’t like women? Wait, if a male Christain doesn’t like women, then he’s homosexual. And Christians don’t like homosexuals either. Or is it that you like women and sex and care about your penis size or whatever but you just can’t talk about it? But wait, God sees and knows all, so he knows you’re thinking naughty thoughts, right? Or, again, is it the steroid stuff that offensive. Just curious really. And by the way, Lonnie, this “better than though” attitude is why a lot of people don’t even think of become Christians. So you’re, in essense, turning people away from God. Doing the work of Satan pehaps? (Read that in the Church Lady voice from SNL.) Hmmmm… Okay, now I’ve confused myself. I’m going to worship Mufasa from now on.

Jesus was often referred to as Rabonni or Master…

You guys are unbelievable. If the word Christian bothered you so bad why did you click on the post? Where did he say this site was offensive? And why is his training views relevant to the off topic board? Look, the guy has chosen a way of life, probably just found the website and was curious to know if there were fellow christians who might give him some insight as to the quality of this site. You did not have to click on this post. In fact, someone replied that lonnie shouldn’t click on posts that he doesn’t like. Well, wouldn’t that apply to everyone who got uppity about the word christian in a post? Funny thing is, I have yet to see a christian post about how disgusting this site is, but you people assume and start slamming this guy. Are you people that shallow? Is anal sex and oral sex the only approved of posts? Folks skip over the posts with the word Christian in it next time and head straight to the more “approved” of posts. Now, I want to show you folks something. Pay attention, I will show you how simple of an answer his post deserved. Lonnie, I’m a Christian. What do I think of the site? It has some great training advice, but as a Christian you will find yourself skipping over many of the Atomic Dog’s, and many of the posts. Usually posts are labeled well so you’ll be able to pickup up on the one’s you’d prefer to read or not to read. WOW!!! That was easy! Oh my! Nothing to it! Lonnie, please don’t judge all the readers of this site by the actions of some of the replies. Most are actually tolerant, will leave you to do your own thing, and don’t have a complex about christians being allowed to communicate and exchange ideas with each other on the “OFF TOPIC” board. Anyways, welcome aboard. If you need any advice or want to answer training questions the training/nutrition board is great. later

said perfectly by Mr. Tolerant

Although the training information in this site is great, as a christian, I’m deeply offended by the other stuff. Instead of emphasizing the health benefits of training, the focus is on vanity and lust, two of the deadly sins. The worst of all are those sordid interviews called the gang of babes that should be called the gang of whores.

This points out exactly what I mean…

So, even though Christ pointed it out so clearly on the Sermon On the Mount…judging people (like calling a bunch of women you probably don’t even know a “gang of whores”); is that considered a “lesser” sin? That really needs to be explained to me…

I am a Christian who loves bodybuilding. Yes, I enjoy the health benefits that come from training, but make no mistake about it: I enjoy seeing the change in my body and working towards a strong lean physique. Testosterone provides more information than any other place I have ever seen. Yes, testosterone has articles or posts that cover topics that I would rather not talk/learn about. I skip over those articles. That is it. Plain and simple. No one is shoving articles about porn stars or posts about masturbation in my face. I sit behind my computer and control EVERY SINGLE WEB PAGE that I look at. How can you be offended by something you chose to look at? As soon as I see something that I would rather not read, I skip over it or move along to the next topic. This magazine is a tool for us to use to increase our knowledge of training and to change our bodies/health. Discussion about sex, pornography and whatever else offends you is everywhere. It is at bookstores, music stores, the internet, video stores, etc. Just don’t buy the books or rent the videos or read the posts about those topics. I cannot control anyone else’s behavior, but I can control my own. Please don’t be offended by information that you should have just avoided in the first place.

Okay guys, let’s all take a little perspective here. Think of this site as a grocery store. When you go to the store, do you take one of EVERYTHING? No, you go through the aisles and take WHAT YOU WANT off the shelf and put it in your cart. Do you avoid the grocery store because they sell highly processed food? No, you just don’t go down that aisle, or if you do, you just leave that stuff on the shelf. Do you then rail at the checkout clerk because they have “bad stuff” on their shelves? Do you turn to the person behind you in the checkout line and rail at them for their choices? No, you just take what you want and leave. Treat this site the same way. As a christian man, I have to say that some things here are things I’d rather not view. Okay, fine. But also, I find a lot of things on this site informative, INCLUDING THOSE TOPICS ON SEX. Why? It can enhance my heterosexual, monogamous relationship with my wife! Just because that information may come from people that aren’t doesn’t make the information bad, it just comes from a situation that maybe YOU don’t choose to participate in. Lonnie, just examine what YOUR goals are, take the information that YOU need, and don’t worry about it. If you find that the information here is influencing WHY you have the goals you do, then you might want to examine your firmness in your beliefs. And THAT is what makes a T-man – striving to perfect yourself in whatever you see that perfection to be, standing up for what you believe in, and not letting injustice go unanswered. And yes, Jesus was a T-man.

yeah, he was referred to as such, i remember that now. i see your point. but i have seen the KJV and new whatever they call it version, and man do the translations differ. its one of those things, ya know… losing or changing meaning w/ time, or error in translation… I can now clearly see you have quite a bit of biblical knowledge. I guess the whole “Master” thing is something i dont quite get, kind of like the prodigal son. i guess i consider Jesus as the Messiah, kind of a father figure, and less of a “Master,” like we are slaves of some sort. but i guess that is because i attach different conotations with the word master than someone else would. thanks for not biting my head off. i appreciate it.

God forbid people feeling good about themselves…

First, a little background. These comments are coming from a Christian student of the bible as well as the history of the Church. Having said that…Holy cow!!! You mean to tell me that you actually READ and UNDERSTAND the message??? I think Pat Robertson just got a wicked case of heartburn and he doesn’t even know why. It is my firm belief that if the Creator wanted us to sit in church pews and listen to someone else interpret the scriptures for us, then we would have been born without the ability to open the books (and go find the ones that the Church won’t sanction) and read them for ourselves. As a Christian, thank you for READING and using the big, wonderful brain that among all of God’s creatures, Humans were chosen to carry.

Paul - as a fellow Christian, let me first point out that I am not a whore, and ask you, who are you to judge my words and actions and label me as such? Are you the Son of God, returned? I seriously doubt it, and since you are not, you have sinned - no more and no less than I have. I could quote line after line of scripture to you, all dealing with the sin of humankind and God’s commandment to love one another. Take your ‘holier than thou’ attitide to a conservative fundamentalist board where you can cast your stones - along with the other perfect people you will find there.

Paul, “Gang of Whores”? If that’s the case, then Jesus himself should be contacting them any time soon to hang out, drink some wine, and maybe break bread, because that’s who he kept company with during his lifetime. I really hope that you’re not suggesting that any woman that has premarital sex is a whore, because you may have just broken the Fifth Commandment: Honor thy Father and thy MOTHER (emphasis added, but you already knew that, didn’t you Paul, being a good Christian and everything). Just like your biblical namesake, you seem to have a real problem with women. Perhaps, like Saul/Paul (incidentally the only apostle never to have actually met Jesus in his lifetime, and sadly one of the “great architects” of the modern Church), you too are hiding a sexual dysfunction that is the root of your hostilities. You may want to actually open that book and read some of the material for yourself.

Roman Catholics Rule! Goooooo Team!

You will burn in hell!!!
