Christian Church Burning Korans

And some Americans wonder why this country is hated so much.

Not reading all the way through every post but anyone other then me think the church is promoting this to get more funds?

I have to wonder how much time you’ve spent outside the US if you think this sort of attitude is somehow uniquely American and an “explanation” for anti-US sentiment.
Other than the Middle East and communists, the U.S. is rather well liked in most places.

Jihad does not mean holy war it means to strive and struggle, no where in the Quran do the words “holy war” appear. I think people on this forum should read the Quran and understand what it actually says, then if they don’t like it do what you want with it.
Surat At-Tawbah 9:60, maybe you should read some more.

Surat Al-Baqarah 2:282, righteous war.
just read them, doesn’t say anything about war, maybe you should learn to read properly

That accounts for a large population of the world

I don’t think burning another religion’s holy book is the right thing to do.

As for the - “being liked by other countries” - most of the countries who hate the States hate the very essence of the US political system, liberties, etc. Kind of like someone hating you for being white or black or oriental etc.

Yeah, but the rest of the world hates them…

well, in mosts part of the world, including in muslim and communist countries, people just don’t care.
they don’t love you
they don’t hate you
they are not conspiring against you, nor they are longing for Pax Americana.
they just try to live and survive, and they hope they won’t be on your “to bomb list”.

for the record, more than a third of my students are 15-20 year old muslims, coming form the Maghreb, etc.
They listen to US music
they eat US food
they idolize US champions
they wear US clothes
they watch US shows
when we speak about WW2, they admire US heroes
when we speak about 9/11, they sympathize with US victims

but, strangely, when we speak about Irak and Palestinia, they suddenly start to express “anti-american feelings”.

For the record, that was a really sarcastic joke. BUT I happen to think being hated by certain peoples is a good indication.

it’s funny how people only know about islam through websites like that, and american media which is solely negatively biased. I live in Egypt and my whole family along is muslim along with all my friends (i was brought up in the UK and am not muslim) and i don’t see any negative aspects.

No disrepectin women, no oppression, no killing, no evil, just people exactly the same as all my christin friends or atheist friends. Except they pray 5 times a day for 2 minutes instead of every sunday mornin or whenever they feel like it.

Not in an extreme sense no. Why what should give u a break for? do u live here?

No. But the Copts and Baha’i do.

So there are negative aspects, they just aren’t “extreme?”

Things seem negative because i was brought up in western society. People imagine a muslim country with street beheadings and stoning of women… When i said negative i meant i can’t check out the girls coz a lot of them are veiled and i can’t get bacon.

But there is no oppression of women? Or religious oppression?

When u say oppresion? ‘‘Oppression is the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner’’

No there isn’t. Women can drive here, they don’t have to wear veils, christians have large churches and aren’t persecuted. Alcohol can be purchased easily and legally. Egypt is probably one of the most western of the muslim countries, a lot of foreigners leave here aswell so western life is tolerated.

The is slight political oppresion but that is politics and not religion.

People are happy with their lives and there doesn’t seem to be any resentment towards any religious authority for pushing beliefs onto anyone.
