Oh, people already do. You can view their proud videos on youtube. It just isn’t a national emergency, apparently.

This might hurt the war effort too but who am I to tell evangelicals what to do for fun:
After all, according to them, Jesus killed Mohammed.

Why would you hold HIM responsible?
If a bunch of Muslims burned Bibles, and it caused Evangelicals to attack mosques, would you blame the Muslims?
And besides, either you believe in freedom of expression, or you don’t.
I am all for freedom of speech. But I don’t think burning korans is going to accomplish anything. So why do it if it will make things difficult for our troops? It will be a real tragedy if even one of our men dies over this futile display.

No , but this is one of those conditions your mother told you about , where you have to be smarter than they are

Ha! At last, this bickering thread is back on track. Worse than a bunch of ole ladies sometimes! ![]()
I have only one point to make. Yes, Pastor Jones is a scumbag and everything noted by jsbrook above. But THE MEDIA is escalating this event! If THE MEDIA could keep it off the front page, or better yet, ignore it completely, then the frenzy would be minimal. Why does THE MEDIA have to fan the flames and put our troops in danger?
At some point, someone should grow a brain and ask…What’s more important in any given situation?.. the First Amendment or the protection of life? Since Pastor Jones clearly has no brain, then THE MEDIA should boycott and ignore this asshole. People do stupid things everywhere. THE MEDIA decides where to create the frenzy.

So what do the Jews have to find the right path? The OT with all of its smiting and genocide? On the scale of goodness there is two points, God and us. There is a path of righteousness and there are paths of evil.
I would like to point out that your assumptions are ridiculous and I still pray for the day when the people that schism actually are acquainted with the knowledge of doctrine, the Bible, &c.
Some Jews do believe in Jesus, I live next door to a Jewish kid, and he wholly believes in Jesus. He is almost as smart as me when it comes to Jesus and His Church.
A lot of religions consider Jesus a great prophet, however, that doesn’t put them on the right path. Even a lot of Christians are not on the right path. Maybe you should go back to the library before throwing shit.
So is the man who doesn’t believe in what you believe but is a good man nonetheless better than the one who believes but does the wrong things? Who is on the right path between the two? Before Jesus was born was anyone on the right path? And which Bible am i supposed to read? The one that says an eye for an eye or love your enemies?
I really just saw the full story on this guy this morning. I’ll have to say two things about it. One, he is perfectly within his first amendment freedoms to burn Qurans. Two, I would never support him.
The first amendment allows people to do a lot of controversial things (such as flag burning). It’s always drawn criticism when someone does something that isn’t seen as tolerant or PC. I think for the pastor, however, there could be a lot more gained by ministering to non believers than by burning Qurans.
Jihad does not mean holy war it means to strive and struggle, no where in the Quran do the words “holy war” appear. I think people on this forum should read the Quran and understand what it actually says, then if they don’t like it do what you want with it.

It matters, but from my experience, neither. You bring up false dichotomy, either…or. When it is neither…nor. Neither the good man who does not believe nor the one that believes and does wrong is on the right path.
There were a few, but not many. Elijah and Enoch come to mind. I am sure there were more, however that is a mystery really.
Which Bible, well from your second question, I suppose the whole one. Haha.
I suggest the Latin Vulgate, if you cannot read Latin, go to drbo.org they have a good one there and it is free.
On the eye for an eye thing, you are picking two different inferred topics and pitting them against each other. Justice and peace. Justice and revenge will come, Jesus says Our Father is the most just, he will bring justice that come against us. That we should not seek revenge ourselves, but that does not caste away our responsibility to be just people. Jesus did call us to be peaceful though.

Surat At-Tawbah 9:60, maybe you should read some more.
Surat Al-Baqarah 2:282, righteous war.
I haven’t read this thread, but thought I’d throw 2 cents in. I’d be thrilled to see former Muslims burning their own books as occurred with the converted pagans in the 19th chapter of the book of the Acts of the Apostles. However, a pastor of a Christian church (which I know nothing about and didn’t look) burning somebody else’s books smacks of cheap publicity stunt.
If somebody already said this I agree.

And this is the only reason I don’t support it. I’m not into the whole activist-protestor scene. I just find it funny that everyone has to run out and make sure they’re on record condemning it (media and public figures). As if the US and Christianity has to grovel and apologize to the pissed off big guy whose foot got stepped on. They’ve (anti-christians) been posting bible burnings on youtube for how long? One is feared, and one is relatively safe to mock openly. Just saying.
I’d have a bit more respect for them if they did it up here where we’re up to our eyeballs in Muslims. What are there about 12 Muslims in Florida? They have the right to do it I just don’t see the point. We denounce Islam? You have to burn their scriptures after calling every news outfit there is for that?
