Chris Weidman vs. Mark Munoz

Well…I guess we could go on and on discussing Weidman’s “wrestling” pedigree…but this guy is a legit all-around grappler. Sub attempts…and awesome transitions. He completely destroyed Mark Munoz(another pedigreed wrestler) AND then the counter elbow from Hades…beautiful thing.

Definitely a MW contender, imo…WHO ELSE IS THERE? Belcher, Bisping, Lombard???

Holy shit! I actually thought that Muñoz was going to TKO Weidman. Man, that guy is impressive! I had never seen Mark being outclassed that way.

Smothering…while attacking for sub. Not bad.

Nice.

Dude is a beast.

yea that dude looked really good… cant believe Rosenthal let the fight go that long after the elbow though that was unreal

The hips on this guy. What a base. Fantastic timing both for his takedowns and some of his striking, punctuated by that beauty of an elbow. Admittedly against a hard-hitting but fairly predictable striker. Also clear that Munoz is only comfortable being the aggressor in the wrestling game; looked horrible on the bottom. But yeah, Weidman looked dominant in all aspects. Great reach for a MW too. Exciting prospect.

Bisping is fodder in the top 5 of this division. I keep forgetting about Belcher though. Might be next for Weidman.

I know dude…I think Munoz took about 15 clean shots to the dome.

Loved the counter elbow. But damn Mark, can you be anymore wide open?

Exactly…I think he was trying to force things because he was out of his comfort zone…as Weidman was wrestle-fucking him.

Great, now I never want to train the north-south position ever again. Why does it always come back to manlove with you BigBoss?

LOL…hey…that was unintentional…or…was…it…hmm?.

On…serious note…man…I kinda feel pity for Munoz…that dude trains his ass off with awesome camps…but just can’t turn the curve and stand out in MW division.

very surprising fight, I really thought Munoz would give Weidman a harder time but i guess not. The best thing about that elbow, is that it seems like he adjusted the strike and turned it to an elbow when Munoz lunged forward; if that is the case, his perception of range is very advanced for someone who is still fairly new to striking and MMA

man i had to rewatch it, i blinked when he threw that elbow and wondered what he did…his timing is off the wall…i;ll be watching him more now, damn!

again, though the main card all the fights were really good!!!

I was really impressed with his ground game. Tight top game. Serra purple belt is like a Cesar Gracie brown. Lol.

I’d think Anderson kills him. Give the guy time.
