What kind of bullshit is this? The entire time they are talking about this, they are playing footage of Benoit hoisting championship belts over his head and pounding his chest as part of his act.

The things that pass for truth these days are unbelievable.

True dat. Remember that when you read an article about ANY subject in the “mainstream media.”

One reason I believe very little of what I read in newspapers is because of the way the media lies about steroids and gun control.

I’ll second that, CL!

I’ll third that. I can barely watch the news. Instead I listen to talk radio for news. The host thinks clearly and is biased to my views.
I want to say shame on WWE for their 3 hour tribute to a guy that murders women and children. Painting him out to be some great guy.

So I assume you’ll be OK when the NFL pays its tribute to OJ Simpson?
Still mad the Juice got acquitted?

Chris Benoit was my favorite wrester ever since his WCW debut in, I think, 1994. Yes, he was a bad man if he killed his family and himself, there is no debating that. However, I am remembering him more as a great wrestler than as a killer. That is not to deny that the deaths happened, but my memory chooses to remember him for his ring work.

Again, it needs to be emphasized here that the tribute was filmed, edited, and aired BEFORE it was determined that Benoit killed his family and himself. WWE did the right thing last night, but it blew up in their faces anyway.

On a bodybuilding-related tidbit, Benoit did circuit training at the gym and never did cardio.

It upsets me that I had to change the “does” to “did” in the preceding paragraph.

yawn.

apparently he did kill his wife and son then hung himself using a weight lifting machine. and of course they are trying to find a way to blame it on steroids.
Another reason why free weights are better than machines.

My heart breaks for his kid. I can’t imagine what that poor kid was experiencing while his father killed his mother, then experienced during the time after up until his murder. I hope there is a hell so Benoit can burn for what he did.

The latest:

The timeline according to the WWE:
http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/chrisbenoittimeline

Vince McMahons message regarding the Tribute show:
http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/chairmanbenoit

Basically - The show was put together immediate upon hearing the news that “3 deceased bodies were found”, which is company policy according to Vince. Upon hearing the confirmation that Chris was the killer, they have pulled the Tribute videos and there will be no further mention of Benoit.

That’s fucked up.

had a good reason for killing his wife and kid? What kind of a dickhole could think that?

Do you get this worked up at people in real life too or is it just the superior internet douche in you?
Because I am caustic does not actually imply that my blood pressure was raised in real life.

No, it’s really not. If you’re older than 14 (16, I guess, for the stupider amongst us) and you’re still an avid fan of wrestling something has gone afoul.

I don’t think you give enough credit to all the people around the internet coming up with conspiracy theories that make him look like a good man. There’s one in this very thread.

Yes the 25 or so total minutes I have spent either reading or replying to this thread are really draining me and have subsequently led to diminished opportunities in my personal life. Just today my mother was caught in a tree and she called me but I was too busy to come get her out of the tree and now she’s probably dead. I also didn’t take that girl out tonight, because for the last 10 hours I have, in secret, been monitoring this thread even though I haven’t posted.

Both of your theories blamed the wife. There’s definitely one of us who’s seeing what he wants to see, and I’m thinking the evidence is pointing in your general vicinity.

Guys, I also have some theories, and I’d like to bounce them around for criticism and see what you think. Chris Benoit was a great man, he was my idol as a child, I loved him like a father. Luckily he wasn’t actually my father but you know, that’s neither here nor there.

First off, obviously, we have to look at both the CIA and the Jews as possibly being involved in this. I’ll go so far as to say it’s entirely possible there was a CIA agent who was a Jew who hated wrestling who planned this.

But I really think it’s the wife, because women are bitches. Let me give you a little chain of events:

To begin with, it’s pretty obvious the wife realized that her husband is so great a man that she can never keep him, and that her son is destined to be the second coming of Christ since he came from the untainted genes of the glorious Chris Benoit. Whether she was involved with this plot or not is not the point here, it’s pretty obvious she realized this.

So first, Chris comes home. She talks him into staying home so he’ll watch the PPV with his son. Then, once the PPV is over, she smothers the scion of our lord Christopher, and Christopher approaches her to inquire as to why she would do such a thing. Calmly.

She runs to the home gym where she has cleverly disguised a noose as a noose and he runs directly into it.

She then, the traitorous bitch, gets into her time machine and goes back to the day before where she then strangles herself.

That’s my main theory, but I’m open to other ideas.

Another one I have floating around in the old noggin’ is A-Rod. First, he kills Cory Lidle, we all know this. What about Chris Benoit? He was probably involved. He’s involved in everything else.

Also it could have been a BDSM accident. The wife was tied up, so maybe it was consensual sex, and then she accidentally suffocated herself. Dumb bitch. Then, the kid, the kid smothered himself. He liked pillows a lot from what I’ve heard, it’s entirely reasonable. Then Chris went crazy after his son and wife both killed themselves and he killed himself to be with them in Heaven. He is truly selfless.

Again, this is just the juice that’s flowin’ outta my head right now, but I think we need to seriously get the T-Nation brain trust together to come up with some more plausible theories. Nothing is what it seems. I think the grandfather in Spiderman said that. Or maybe it was Pearl Jam. Probably the grandfather, though.

This bs about roid rage sucks:

What about him being a cowardly arsehole, fine kill yourself if you need to but don’t take others with you.

Just a shitbag.

Please T.C. would you step up to Kevin Hench the sports writer for fox and put him in his place if anyone can It would be you.

He gives a list and run down of all the wwf wrestlers who have died blaming steroids on their death stating that so and so died from pain killer O.D. but then adding that he used steroids in the past so it must have been the juice and others who killed themselves with gun shot’s and saying this guy also used A.S. in the past, WTF iF I had a good way to articulate my thought’s I would do it but sad enough I cant seem to put my thought’s on paper/screen very well.

http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/6964262?MSNHPHMA

WWE has gone on record and commented on the speculation and sensationalism of the steroid speculations and gave a decent rundown of why roids would not be the cause of this.

I totally agree with emeteric.

Every time some wrestler dies, it’s because of steroids. WTF! i would love to see a coranors report saying that steriods caused the gunshot wounds!

we cannot close our eyes to he fact that steriods are used by wrestlers (and probably just about every other sports person in the world) but we must also remember that THEY CHOSE TO DO IT! i’m sure that no one straps these people to a table and pumps them full of 'roids against their will. and saying they did it because they loved the sport is crap… i love sex but that doesn’t make me go out and rape chicks to get more!

And painkillers… eerrr hello. have you seeen what these guys do 3-4 nights a week. they may well need painkillers and agin they know what to expect when they take bumps in the ring! if the pain gets to much… QUIT! stone cold managed it!!

nothing is hidden from people. i would like to be a pro wrestler one day and i KNOW what comes with the territory. but if i’m asked to do something and i can’t, won’t or shouldn’t do then i will say so and if that means losing my job then so be it!

My mother called me today and asked if the “stuff” I am taking would ever make me do something like this. My “stuff” is protein powder BCAA and creatine.

Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Lot’s of theories are coming out but until I see an official autopsy report I’m going to refrain from jumping to any conclusions about what happened or why.
You see, this where the news media and it’s idiotic, irresponsible reporting (with respect to steroids) really pisses me off. I get these same questions and it would be laughable if it were not so irritating. I’ve been asked similar questions by just about everyone I work with over the past 24 hours. I just had a conversation (first thing this AM!) with a co-worker who blames steroids for this whole deal. I asked him why, then, are not there a string of bodies in the wake of all the juiced up MLB players.

I mean, it’s rampant there, right? Has been for 12 years or so? Where are all the bodies? This stuff is just going to trickle down. Andro is already gone. It was totally ineffective as a supplement and mostly hype. But it’s banned because Mark McGwire took it and the reports shit themselves and congress wanted it banned. Gone. Next will be creatine. Then what? Protein supplements? Fish Oil? Anything that helps a guy who trains?

I’d like to see a comparison between the numbers of ‘steroid-fueled’ murders (actually heard that term on the local news) compared with murders (or any violent crime) in which one or all participants are drinking, smoking, using drugs. Shit. Watch cops for one night! Every fucking person is drunk and begging the cop for a smoke! Not jacked up on roids and asking for a d-bol tab!

If he did do it then he is a fucking piece of shit and he should be remembered as such.
