Chicago Man Kills Intruder

Didn’t see this posted yet, but given that most of us are pro responsible gun ownership and that this happened in anti gun Chicago…good for the man and his family. I pray that Chi-Town politics try to start some shit. Good thing this man didn’t listen to the law of the land in Illinois or he and his fam would be history.

An 80-year-old Chicago man shot and killed an armed man who broke into his two-story house in a pre-dawn home invasion Wednesday on the city’s West Side.

At about 5:20 a.m., the homeowner and his wife, also in her 80s, discovered the intruder entering their home through a back door. The homeowner, who had a gun, confronted and killed the burglar on the doorstep, police said. Cops said the intruder also fired his gun during the struggle.

“It’s a good thing they had a gun, or they might be dead,” said Curtis Thompson, who lives next door to the couple, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Neighbors described the elderly couple, who both walk with canes, as pillars of the community in Garfield Park, where home invasions have been all too frequent.

Their neighbor, Shaquite Johnson, told MyFoxChicago that the two are “heroes” for fighting off the attacker â?? and that the shooting means there is “one less criminal” walking the streets.
“They don’t bother no one, so why would anyone do that to them?” she said.

Relatives of the couple told the Sun Times that the man is an Army veteran, his wife a former nurse. Police said neither the man nor the woman was injured in the attack.

The assailant, who was described by police as being in his 30s, was found slumped on the back doorstep of the couple’s house, removed four hours after the shooting, the Sun Times reported.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner, but Chicago currently has a statute outlawing the possession of handguns. Its legality is currently being decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

A high-profile Chicago attorney has already stepped forward offering to represent the man pro bono if he faces charges for possessing a weapon.

“Self-defense isn’t just a right, it’s a duty,” said attorney Joel Brodsky. “If this man is prosecuted for saving his own life it’s not just a travesty, it’s justice turned inside out.”

I don’t get how local governments ban handguns. What is it about the 2nd amendment they don’t understand?

Good for that old guy.

What. The fuck?

How the fuck can some government pen pushers even CONTEMPLATE fucking up the judicial system to the point where a man can spend jail time for PROTECTING HIS OWN FUCKING HOME? HOW THE FUCK DARE THEY?

I’d like to know the opinion of any one of those government assholes AFTER they get awoken at night by thugs who then proceed to rape his wife and kill his kids in his own house because “…owning guns is just wrong, you know.”

The intruder was armed, shot his gun first, and has a history of weapon and drup convictions; I’m sure a guy like this would obey the law and not carry a weapon right? You want to take guns from responsible people and you expect people with numerous “weapon convictions” to not fucking carry themselves? Gotta be shitting me. Once again, I pray that the Chicago scum politicans try to bring charges against the 80 year old patriot, I would love to hear what they have to say regarding his rights…these are the idiots that run and ruin our country.

if guns were outlawed only criminal ts would have them…until the old mans whips out the colt 45 and blows your ass away!

No jury would convict that man.

agreed. I wonder if the family of the intruder will try to start some lawsuit if the city doesn’t take some kind of action against the 80 year old, even tho the robber had a gun as well. Will be interesting to see how this plays out…

boom…

Awesome. I like how the dead guy’s body was slumped on the steps for 4 hours after he was killed. IN YOUR FACE!

No way he gets prosecuted. That would make the DA prettay prettay unpopular. But if he was prosecuted I’d have to say the case would be pretty cut and dry. Pretty hard to say he didn’t have a hand gun at this point.

The law is the law right?

That fuck asked to die.

Good for him. It’s about time scum like that bastard were just killed for poisoning the streets of communities like that one.If only we had the balls to do that with the gangs here in Ireland.Pity the police here are about as useful as a paralysed lifeguard.

I sympathise for the man, I really do. As a former soldier, he can’t be expected to do anything but take action to defend his family. But for law to be effective, it can’t be biased. I don’t think self defence is in question, but rather the possession of the illegal handgun that is disputed.

Mayor Daley is the one supporting the gun-ban in Chicago. A lot of people here hate his ass for it. Hopefully the supreme court will overturn this piece of shit legislation.

This is an article about the gun ban.

I’m from Chicago and not a fan of the gun ban.
I hope the man doesn’t get in any trouble. It’s terrible to punish someone for surviving an attack.

The old guy should get a medal

how does Daley get elected ?

Would’ve been better if he had met the intruder with a flame thrower. Just sayin’…

Man I think it played out perfectly. Just think if the 80 year old wouldn’t have had a gun. The intruder would have probably killed the elderly couple and their grandson and it would have given more fuel to the anti-gun fire. Flame thrower would have been nice tho, speargun too!
