Cheney, War Criminal?

Ex-Powell aide: Dick Cheney fears prosecution for war crimes

"Dick Cheney was “president for all practical purposes” during George W. Bush’s first term in office and “fears being tried as a war criminal,” according to Colin Powell’s chief of staff during his time as secretary of state.

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, who has known Cheney for decades, told ABC News that Cheney was a “very vindictive person.”

“I simply don’t recognize Mr. Cheney anymore,” he added.

In his memoir, “In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir,” which was released Tuesday, Cheney claimed Powell had undermined Bush, by criticizing policy to people outside the administration. Cheney told NBC News that the book would see “heads exploding all over Washington.”

In the ABC interview, Wilkerson suggested Cheney was adopting a tough stance in an attempt to forestall criticism or even prosecution.

“What really sort of got my attention was this way in which he characterized it (the memoir): it’s going to ‘cause heads to explode,’” Powell said. "That’s quite a visual. And in fact, it’s the kind of headline I would expect to come out of a gossip columnist, or the kind of headline you might see one of the supermarket tabloids write. It’s not the kind of headline I would have expected to come from a former vice president of the United States of America.

“I think he’s just trying to, one, assert himself so he’s not in some subsequent time period tried for war crimes and, second, so that he somehow vindicates himself because he feels like he needs vindication. That in itself tells you something about him,” Wilkerson added."

Is there really any chance of Cheney being brought up on war crimes or is Cheney just being paranoid?

Possibly?

All that is really needed is to get him into custody, then you could watch warrants pop up all over Europe for all kinds of things.

This whole kidnapping European citizens did not go over well, also not the complicity of state governments, by the time this is all figured out he would probably be about 370 years old.

Fortunately, him being undead and all, that would hardly be a problem.

War crimes for what? Honestly if he is charged should not Bush be in the conversation? Also why do we follow international laws.
Seriously, I am not familiar with the laws nor ways of these things. But how can he?

Guantano, Abu Ghareib, renditions, torture, kidnapping, unlawful detainment, the breaking of the Geneva Convention?

Just send him over, we will see what will stick.

Come and get him. If you can.

Oh, I think we could.

However, rule of law and such hassles, you know?

Wait, how would you?

Well Orion torture really? Those were soldiers for jihad and guess what at least we did not behead them on Al-Jazerra. The breaking of the Geneva code, you know as a former soldier we are probably the most strict on following those stupid laws which cause to loose more of our soldiers because of them.

I see what you mean my friend. But those are enemies and they know what will happen when they fight plain and simple. The same thing as a US soldier knows his life is over if he gets captured.
We should not be punished due laws in other countries.

Ya really!

Anyhow, if he is innocent he has nothing to fear!

Suppose he is not what are the chances he would be tried? If so then Bush and Obama should be right in front of the line because they are in charge.

No, you couldn’t.

What law? You can’t seem to have him charged. Even if you did, you can’t come get him. I can make up law all day long, too. Means nothing.

Ask first. Ask again. Lay out the consequences. Ask the third and final time. Take him. But apparently, they don’t have enough to charge him with anything, so it’s moot.

Both are heads of state, that matters.

No, you couldn’t.

Really?

Pinochet felt safe and yet when he landed in the EU a warrant was issued.

And yes, we could.

Mowing down a SS detail is after all only a minor hassle.

But, our politicians do at least have to hold up the appearance of following the laws they derive their powers from.

Radical concept, I know, but try to wrap your head around it.

Your politicians are cowards if they think him a criminal, but will not act. Cowards. And their laws are fantasies if they won’t, or are so completely hobbled they can’t, act. You brag about some third worlder who came to you.

Que !?!

Or maybe that was the best rationale the “might makes right” crowd can muster, I am flabbergasted.

Theory doesn’t enforce laws.

Just part of the lawfare approach of the hard leftists — just make up crap, law and reason notwithstanding.

His only “crime” is daring to stand up to islamic fascism and being of the wrong political party. Islamists and political whores on the left unite to attack a common enemy.

It’s like being Jewish and refusing to have your head chopped off — that’s a war crime, too, apparently.

Spot on!

From bits and pieces I’ve heard about his book (INCLUDING Fox); he seems to be throwing more of his Administration under the bus than he is “lefties”.

Mufasa

There is not a single European country that would have the balls to so much as lay a finger on Cheney even if he personally flew to that country, stepped off the plane, took down his pants, gyrated his crotch and waved his dick in a circle while crying “Come at me brah!”

None. Not one country.

Any talk of this happening (as if current US heads of state would allow it and set that precedent for themselves?!) is the sound of a chihuahua yipping at a pit bull. From the inside of a house. While being held by a blue haired old lady. With bars on the windows and a locked door.
