cheese burger

I eat pretty much whatever I want, as long as it fits into my calories and macros for the day. Because of this, I am able to diet hard continuously without derailing my progress in order to indulge psychological urges, depriving myself, or going to ridiculous lengths and expenses to make fake “cheat foods” out of various “clean” ingredients that never quite taste the same.
Having pizza (REAL pizza, no veggie crusts here) tonight, actually.
Good post.

IIRC, Bushidobadboy has commented on casein (micellar casein, specifically, I think…) being “bloaty” in nature.
So that may be what’s causing your bloating.

Um, they don’t TASTE like anything though!
and they look like worms ( :
I have been looking for the non-tofu ones, but can’t seem to find them anywhere!
Asian markets usually have them and way cheaper than those over-hyped “diet” brands. I find they are good in stir-frys and asian recipes, but anyone thinking they are a good sub for pasta will be disappointed.
Quark
Choc whey
Almond butter
all mixed together
Stronghold makes a good point.
I find these “cheat foods that arent cheat foods” are a little bit over the top.
Its not going to kill anyone to hav a bit of pasta for dinner once a week or so.
Since Ive became healthy etc, I find that I dont really crave brownies and cheeseburgers etc,
infact sometimes the thought of eating such things makes me feel sick.
If I feel like pasta I will eat pasta aslong as its in moderation with lots of lean mince
meat. If I feel like crepes, I will have 2 crepes, and try and eat them an hour or so before
a epic workout. If I feel like chocolate, I will have a row or 2 of 85% dark organic
chocolate, and I will enjoy it without the massive sugar rush you get with eating
the normal milk chocolate/brownies.
And no one, I mean no one, should be adding anything to coffee besides proper steamed
milk. Bad coffee is unexcusable.

Hmm, that is interesting, thanks for that heads up!

Yeah, I was assuming that they would make pretty crappy pasta noodles. I was just planning on throwing some soy and hot sauce on them!

Whatever works for you.
Personally I love to cook, so nothing is over the top. I stopped eating grains a little while back and it works for me. So if I want a brownie, or a crepe, or pasta I’ll find a way to have it, on my terms.
If your nutrition supports your goals and you are happy with your performance, then all is good.

Soy sauce, hot sauce, shiritaki, meat and mixed thai veggies, cook everything up in some broth and crack an egg over the whole mess near the end and let it cook a little. My kid loves this.

While I do feel that is a perfectly fine way to live most of the year, I am currently preparing for my first BB contest, so foods that are easy to fit into daily macros and cure the occasional sweet or salty tooth are pretty crucial.

My point was that it’s fairly easy to fit most “cheat foods” into your macros if you can control how much you eat and just have one. I’m currently between 2100 and 2200 calories/day on a diet and eat pizza, cheeseburgers, etc. several times a week.

Well if you can do it, more power to you. I just am pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to, at least this many weeks out.

Yes. I’m not gorging indiscriminately, just not restricting my food choices to arbitrary definitions of what’s acceptable. Macros come out to 225g protein, 160-180g carbs, 50-60g fat each day.

Pretty similar to my macros, how on earth do you manage to fit real pizza and cheeseburgers into those macros, without eating like a bird the rest of the day?

I’m doing leangains style intermittent fasting, so it’s not difficult at all.
Stronghold wrote:

This is worth emphasizing: its simply MUCH, MUCH easier to fit “cheat foods” in when you’re splitting up your daily intake (2400kcals, in this example) over 2-3 meals (so, 800-1200kcals per feeding)
Split that identical energy intake over 5-6 meals (so, 400-480kcals per) and, well, I hope that’s sustainable for those of you that do…

This is a big reason why I will likely never go back to eating 6 meals a day. It’s just not sustainable for my appetite and schedule.
I’ve been doing leangains as well and it’s a lot easier. Nothing is off the table. I really like it. I’ll never diet again eating 12 hours a day. But if I’m bulking then I may go back to eating breakfast etc.
