they say when u go on a fat loss diet u can have one day of cheat day.
so on that cheat day u can eat whatever u want throughout the whole day? is that how it works?

Hmm, to a degree, it’s not like you can eat 18 tubs of ice-cream and expect to actually continue on your diet as if nothing happened.
Often people here have described this idea as eating one meal (as in, things you routinely have in a meal) but of whatever you like. So that you don’t go crazy thinking you can gorge all day on wild crap.
For me, since I’m following the Anabolic Diet, the two weekend “cheat”/carb-up days allow me to eat lots of carbs…60%! I’ll have some pancakes for breakfast, some pasta for dinner, and a dessert!

I agree.
At no point when “dieting” should you have a cheat “day”. The idea is a single cheat meal. Preferably heavy in carbs, but still containing protein.
Cheat does not mean binge.
so i shoudl still follow my diet but just choose one meal to eat out like at jack in the box or something ?
can i choose 2 days to do that (friday/saturday) or only one?
This is very individual like all else. some ppl can get away with a day some one meal some none, also goal dependent. me hell give me a whole damn day and ad go hog wild hell I gfo hog wild withj one meal easily I can get near or at 10000 k/cals just HITTIN it HARD brotha.
Find what works for you your goals etc.

Like Phill said it’s goal dependent. If you are a lean guy trying to just lose a little fat- you can afford many more cheat meals. If you are an FFB or future FFB trying to lose fat, it’s best to limit this as much as you can.
You can choose how ever many “cheat” meals you want, but it looks like you’re just looking for an excuse to eat garbage. After all, there’s no magic that comes with a cheat meal. Any excess calories you consume will go against your goal of fat loss.
It’s for this reason, that I don’t plan times to eat poorly when dieting. I don’t cheat if I don’t feel the urge. However, I am careful to allow myself a little leeway occasionaly before I go off the deep end.
Oh and dont do what I once did in the past
Here is to cheat meal week 37 of 2025
As of today it is Week 2 of 2007

That might be a tad too much planning…
