I assume he resorts to name calling because he actually has nothing to say but feels the need to say it. He sure cannot combat the facts that he has installed a dictatorship in Venezuela.

Calling priests names is probably not a good idea in a central American country that is heavily Catholic.
Of course, look at Castro…he has a net worth of over 500 million dollars, yet the people adore (fear?) him.

Nobody adores Castro. His own daughter even defected to the U.S. If you see people at large rally in Cuba, chances are high it was staged and they got extra food rations or what not to participate. Lord knows if my family was starving, I join a rally too if it meant more food.

It wasn’t exactly uncalled for, now was it? The Cardinal said that Chavez “thinks he’s God and can trample upon other people.”

Chavez is probably Catholic, at least nominally so. To insult a priest and especially in public is simply not done.
Would any member of your mosque stand up and start name calling your Imam?
I would never insult a priest and would physically attack anyone who did so. Its a Catholic thing…

You don’t seem to know the least bit about the guy.
If said Imam claims that I think I’m God, I’d probably lose it and get into a heated argument with him. A few years ago, some buddies of mine brought me over to an Imam who tried to convince me of how “genies” might hurt me if I wasn’t careful (sing: D’jin, plur: D’jenoun). I snapped and called him ignorant fear-monger. Imagine my response if he’d have started calling me names.
In Islam, there’s no sanctity of the clergy, let alone papal infallibility.
Once upon a time, there was something called “freedom of speech” in the US. Where did it go? Assaulting somebody over an opinion he/she expressed is plain wrong.

The Cardinal in question was actually SIMPLY DOING HIS JOB! He is SUPPOSED TO pronounce moral judgment on anyone who supposedly abides by the faith. It comes with the job, Lixy.
Freedom of speech does not mean you are free to say whatever you want. It means that our government can’t restrict speech. Conflicts between individual are not covered. Suppose someone began screaming obscenities in a room filled with schoolchildren, or while standing mext to your wife and kids? He’s free to do so but not free to escape the consequences.

So if I publically call you a jerk, isn’t it your right to get back to me with another insult? However, I don’t think I have the right to physically assault you just because you insulted me back. It defies common sense and will never hold in any court.

I put lixy on my ignore list. He just wants to bait and then insult. He is a waste of time to acknowlege. Perhaps, you should put him on your ignore list too. I’d like to make it so I can’t even see his posts. He’s a waste of CPU cycles.
The truth is that Chavez ha already established a dictatorship. I know this is a fact because I’m from Venezuela and know how everything works there. In Venezuela, no one can say anything bad about the president because you may lose your job, or not be able to get one.
You have to agree with Chavez 100% or else everything goes bad for you. Thats why he shut down RCTV, because the station was critical about the stuff that he is doing. Its sad that so many people are blind and not paying attention to what really going on there.

I am pro-Chavez, yet not blind to the dictatorship he’s turning the country into. I can see the tyrannical laws he’s been enacting lately and denounce all of them. The RCTV case is not as clear cut as you make it seem. He didn’t exactly make up the laws that allowed the government to refuse extending licenses. That predates his reign by as much as a decade.
Now, I have a question for you and please try to answer honestly: On which side were you on in the last coup against Chavez’s legitimate Venezuelan government? Something tells me that you weren’t siding with the guy who won fair and square in the transparent democratic election.
Let me just tell you that I was a chavista. I was really happy when he won the first time, because he promised that there was going to be a change in the country, he promised to stop corruption. The truth is that he hasn??t done much to stop corruption. I??m going to admit that he is helping the poor. He is giving them food, housing, medical care that is good.
But, at the same time he is taking away many of their rights. If I want to criticize the government, I shouldn??t lose my job, or my right to go to school. I shouldn??t have to fear the government. It??s really sad, but I know that this is truly happening in Venezuela. After, I had few friends and family member lose their jobs just for signing a piece of paper saying that they wanted a re-election for a new president, was when I opened my eyes and noticed what Chavez is really doing is not a true democracy.

A dictatorship, you say? Oh well, let them have it. The latinos seem to have an affinity for them.

Kind of says it all, eh?
A gentleman from Venezuela comes on here to describe life in Venezuela. He describes a tyrant ruining a great country. Lixy: “Well, I support the dictatorship…as long as he screws those oil companies…ha, ha, ha.”

Excuse the fuck out of me? Latinos what? I think you’ll want to rephrase that statement. What’s next you gonna say blacks actually prefered slavery?
