Celibacy?

Yup.

Asia in general.

Where women, if they are reasonably affluent and educated, manage to hold onto their looks and figure well into their forties and beyond. My ex-wife (who is Japanese) is my age, and she looks better than a lot of American women in their thirties.
If you are in your forties, intelligent, moderately successful, well-groomed, reasonably good-looking and in shape, you will not have to “go after” young women. They will come after you.

No shit. Get rid of the neck beard; put on some fawn chinos and polo shirt. Easy peasy. But how about at 50? 55? There comes a time when it all comes to an end. One day I’ll look in the mirror and I’ll either be a creepy guy or a celibate. And yes, it is creepy.

The rule for the youngest age of women to date is your age/2 + 7.

So for me… 52/2 + 7 = 34.

This was explained somewhere here on TN by Kpsnap at the rule.
Is that what that means?

I always thought it meant I should date a woman half my age plus seven of her friends.

Shit. Been doing it wrong.
I thought the formula was their DOB + 18.

That’s the formula for staying out of prison. One of them anyway.

I thought age of consent was 16 or 17 in Australia, depending on the state.

Yes but it’s 18 in many US States isn’t it?

Hey, I don’t mind joking and jabbing and poking and such – you know that – I do it all the time too. But when you truly position yourself as a devout warrior particularly against Christianity in today’s day and age where fuckheads all over the globe (not speaking of you in this instance) are spitting on (literally and figuratively), legislating against, fining, imprisoning, beheading and crucifying said Christians you’re inevitably going to get some blowback from the likes of me.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

The only person to bring up Christianity or Christians on this thread is you, my friend.

Christianity and Intelligent Design are not always bedfellows, as you well know. The vast majority of Christians are not creationists, and the vast majority of creationists are not Christian.

The vast majority of creationists in today’s day and age are, in fact, the very same fuckheads who are spitting on, crucifying, beheading etc. the aforementioned Christians sometimes, but mostly other creationist Muslims.

I’ll take responsibility for offending you by poking fun at the likes of Kent Hovind, Ken Ham, Roy Comfort and their ilk (these were the asses with circular arguments I had in mind when I made the comment, by the way, not you), but please don’t automatically assume that I’m bad mouthing all of Christianity when I do.

Well, if you call eleven out of fifty “many”, then yeah.

On the above map, bright green is 18, olive green is 17, and dark blue is 16.

Canada is 16 across the board, it seems, and Mexico… well, Mexico is all fucked up. Ranges from 15 in the capital territory to “onset of puberty” in Nayarit state. 12 to 14 everywhere else.

EDIT: shit, that map sucks.

You seem to have backed yourself into a corner and made sure that all of the exits are closed off. The standard solutions to your problem are 1) get over your self consciousness, stay in shape, and keep hitting on younger girls, or 2) marry a girl young so that by the time she hits a precipitous middle age attraction drop you’ve had enough good times with her that she’s still hot to you (husband goggles). If you don’t want to do either of those, you’re stuck with celibacy.

The map’sfine. I’ve been wanting to travel North America for ages and this will help me figure out my itinerary, thanks.

I couldn’t even imagine celibacy being an option, ever.

Keep yourself in shape and engage in social sports. Skiing, surfing, rock climbing…basically anything outdoors and you won’t have to “go after” younger women. Your mutual interests will bring you together.

Good memory.

I find these conversations a bit amusing as I think it’s presumptuous to assume a young, hot girl would be attracted to a man so many years her senior. Sure, you can probably find a youthful, vacuous gold digger if that’s your cup of tea. Personally, I know a lot of intelligent women who are attractive and in fabulous shape in middle age.

Actually I’m currently hiding a slight limp from my gf. She’s into running amongst other things and my legs were shattered and put back together with titanium rod, screws and plates. I don’t really want to explain to people how it happened for one thing(don’t ask). I don’t suppose she’d care but I just haven’t mentioned it because I don’t want to explain it.

Anyway, I agree with the poster above. It is a bit presumptuous to imagine young women would be attracted to me in my “senior” years; or anyone else at that age for that matter.

I didn’t explain, but this is why I mentioned moving to South East Asia.

It’s much easier to get younger girls as an older white man in this part of the world. Much more difficult in in Anglo nations.

It depends on what you mean by “so many years”, I suppose. I’ve only dated women between 3 and 12 years younger than me, but not by design. It just works out that way. The limiting factor would seem to be what stage in life you’re in, not age.

By far, the determining factor of the success of a relationship was her desire for kids.

not gold digger but a woman raised by a single mommy: daddy issues

Way to set the bar low :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know about that.

My dad got remarried not long ago to a younger woman who, like he, is a university professor and accomplished poet. She is a tall, willowy redhead and absolutely gorgeous. Not a vacuous bone in her body, and about the most down-to earth, non-gold-digging woman I have ever met. And my father is about as far from “creepy” as it is possible to get. It was simply a case of mutual attraction and admiration.

She was born in 1980. My father was born in 1949. You may do the math.

Seems to work for them.

It sounds like a good match intellectually, which, in my opinion, is hugely important. I’m obviously generalizing regarding age differences. Carry on.

I must admit that I do feel a little defensive on behalf of middle-age women since I am one.
