CDMac's TRT Journey

Sorry for your experience but I’m not surprised. Best bet is to call compounding pharmacies in your area and ask for referrals/recommendations to Dr’s who prescribe hCG for men and then call those offices.

Typing “discounted labs” into your web browser, you can find labs in your area, typically via labcorp and then select what tests you want done online, pay, print out your tests to be run and then show up at a lab to get your blood work done. It’s actually rather inexpensive, especially if compared to insurance out of pocket costs before deductibles are met.

Things worth mentioning:

Once per week injections could be worse. What you really want to concern yourself with is the ability to self inject. As long as you can self inject, you can get syringes yourself and control your own injection frequency as long as Dr’s script is in line with mg’s per week. Getting your own syringes as well will also null and void the Dr’s opinion on IM vs SQ injections.

You may be able to curb testicular atrophy using nolvadex in place of hCG, at least temporarily and you can find it via research chemical websites online. Typical starting/cruising dose for those on TRT is 20 mg/nolvadex/day.

Not having an AI on hand would make me nervous as well. Smaller T injections more frequently, getting lean and increasing liver and gut health will minimize T to E conversion.

Can you refresh our memory on your current protocol and your lab results when they come in?

@Hostile - I probably confused some with my running commentary on this thread. I appreciate your input so hopefully this won’t come off as being a know it all. I’ll give more details below that will refresh your memory. Thanks for being willing to help out!

  • My last labs (July) were done at LabCorp - paid for through Discounted Labs
  • Found that great info on this site after reading everything I could in stickies and other user stories
  • Regarding finding a dr - I totally understand the idea of calling the compounding pharmicies
  • I didn’t take that route initially ( I will now ) because I got a recommendation from a guy to go see this Dr
  • Not sure what this guy’s protocol is or why he likes to recommend this Dr, but I’m not going back
  • The only good thing that Dr was saying was that he would let me self inject
  • I understand that injecting once a week is not ideal - I’ve been self injecting since 6/20 and started EOD on 7/16
  • I was able to find and obtain the .5ml 29g 1/2" insulin needles and have them and other supplies on hand
  • I’ve definitely been out to a few research chem sites - originally looking for hCH
  • Thanks for the info about nolvadex - I may have to do that

Current protocol is EOD:

  • 30mg Test Cyp
  • 250iu hCG (currently not taking this as I ran out)
  • .1398mg Anastrozole (liquid, by the drop, pills dissolved in vodka)

I am pretty confident I have some sub-clinical Thyroid issues as my temps never got to the baseline levels described in my reading/research even after doing the Iodine Replenishment protocol
I am currently plotting a Dr Rind Metabolic Temp Graph as described on the stop the thyroid madness site

It’s only been 4 months and know this is a longer process for some to get dialed in so I will keep working on it

Again, thanks for the information

Next Steps

  • Get another round of labs through discounted labs/LabCorp
  • Find another Dr with whom I can set an appointment
  • Look into getting some nolvadex
  • I still have a few weeks of Anastrozole but need to get AI on hand as well

* I'm traveling back to Houston this next week so maybe I can get seen at my old clinic and have them call in a Rx to the same compounding pharmacy they used last time to get me set up when I was moving * In the midst of the hurricane, we were selling our house and now need to go move * Don't think we have any damage but will find out Sunday for sure

You don’t come off as a know it all. You come off as intelligent with good intentions.

Did this most recent Dr refuse your lab list a couple posts above? I’m very curious to see your rt3.

I’m on my cell and don’t have the list in front of me but he said he’d have some of the tests done but not the others. I’m going to do the comprehensive thyroid panel and the TRT male hormone/wellness follow up panel from discounted labs on my own next week as I’m paying out of pocket anyway so I hadn’t gone to get the labs he authorized. I did make the mistake of having LH/FSH on my list which I know will not be valid while on treatment and he used that to say, "most of these you can’t even test while on TRT. " But didn’t give me the opportunity or explain that I wouldn’t need those and knew they would be shut down.

I’m not a pushover by any means - but this guy was a straight bulldozer. I don’t want to complain about him more than that. I’m interested in my thyroid labs too. I’ll get the fT3 and fT4 in addition to rT3 as a part of my labs next week so I have more info to go on.
