CDMac's TRT Journey

  • Don’t have cramping issues very often
  • Every once in a while I’ll get a calf cramp or foot arch cramp but usually I attribute that to getting dehydrated
  • I usually stay very hydrated
  • I’m in the same boat - Trying to keep up with my own log/thread is hard enough
  • Great job giving your input to all those searching for help/answers - much appreciated

CHECKING IN:

  • Received my CBD Oil a day earlier than expected so I took my first dose (.5ml/~43mg) today at noon
  • Might be getting some slow, steady improvement in my daily temps
    • Last 4 morning temps: 96.6, 96.7, 96.7, 96.9
    • Afternoon temps still not very consistent: 98.1, 98.4, 97.6, 98.4 (maybe the 97.6 was just a bad reading)
    • Will edit this post to include this afternoon’s temp later
  • Minor headache this morning on waking but has dissipated

@Hostile - what dose (in mg) do you take of the CW CBD oil?

I got the highest concentration formula

  • Suggested serving (from the packaging) is .5ml 2x/day
  • Concentration says ~43mg hemp extract per .5ml
  • That’s 86mg hemp extract / day <==== seems rather high to me
  • What am I missing re CBD oil /Hemp extract / dosing?
  • Should I just STFU up following the package guidelines and adjust as needed?

I have the same concentration. I tend to take one dropper/0.5 mg upon waking and once after lifting.

    • I’ll continue to monitor
    • possibly on the rise but also may just be a fluctuation
  • Starting to think I may be an adrenal fatigue case
    • Will have to get thyroid labs on next round
  • Since starting CBD oil, haven’t noticed a decrease in joint pain yet
  • Added my PM Temp for today 8/3/2017
    • First time getting to at least 98.6 since I started IR protocol

  • Many logs on this forum suggest hCG is beneficial to mood
  • Upped my hCG to 285iu EOD
  • Had GREAT energy yesterday - wish I felt that great every day
  • Had dropped it to 125iu EOD in attempt to conserve Rx
  • Initial feedback tells me ^ hCG dose really made a HUGE difference
  • No headache after the morning injection yesterday

UPDATED BODY TEMP TABLE

DATE TEMP AM TEMP PM
8/08/2017 96.5 98.8

  • Today’s PM Temp looks good but overall still very low numbers
  • PM Temps seem to be steadily increasing but AM still not getting over 97.3
  • Past 12 days I’ve been taking 50mg iodine per day
    • AVERAGE AM Temps = 96.7
    • AVERAGE PM Temps = 98.4
  • TEMPS are still low
  • Symptoms and Temps suggest thyroid issues and/or adrenal fatigue
  • Will get comprehensive adrenal and thyroid panels
  • Will start monitoring temps 3x /day to further diagnose

Making progress.

With new doc and labs, with the high dose iodine TSH will be high and the result will be of no value.

Has your mental clarity improved?

Thanks for checking in, @KSman.

I’ve been needing to post an update/check-in for a couple of days now.

I’ll keep in mind that my TSH will be high due to the IR

BODY TEMP AVERAGES AFTER 14 DAYS IODONE REPLENISHMENT

AVERAGE TEMP AM AVERAGE TEMP PM
96.8 98.3

  • AM Temps ranged from low of 96.4 to high of 97.1
  • PM Temps ranged from low of 97.6 to high of 98.9
  • Have not started my 3 measurements / day to build Metobolic Temp Graph yet

  • My headaches have gone away for the most part
  • Noted some significant swelling in my lower legs/ankles yesterday (not sure what caused it)
  • Mental clarity is better but life stressors still making me grumpy
  • Finally have our house in Houston under contract so maybe that will relieve some stress
  • Looking to buy new house though so still in real estate limbo
  • CBD oil is working better as the days have gone by
    • took a day off an aches were much more noticeable
Questions?
  • Do I stop the IR now that I’ve been on 50mg for 14 days and go to maintenance dose in my multi?
    • Iodine (From Kelp) - 75 mcg
    • Selenium Selenium (AsAlbion® Selenium Amino Acid Complex) - 35 mcg
  • Should I keep with the high dose Iodine and selenium for a while longer? (How long?)

  • I know I’m probably just waiting it out until I can get fT3, fT4, and rT3 and adrenal labs
  • Next post will be my soliciting opinions on what I believe should be my next round of labs list

I would go maintenance on the IR personally. I think your rt3 is going to come back high, which means stress management; psychologically, physically, immunologically etc.

What does your diet look like?

  • I eat rather clean. Try to keep protein / carbs / fat to a 35%, 35%, 30% for 2200 calories
  • I just recently got back on a cleaner diet though as I had been just blowing it out the last 3 years
  • my body composition really took a nose dive the past 3 years going from probably 12% BF to 25+
  • Since being on TRT, I’ve cleaned my diet back up to what it was when I was working out 5-6 times a week
  • I’m not working out as much as I’d like yet - would like to get back to 3-4 days / week (easing myself back into it as I’m not as spry as I once was)

Questions? for @Hostile

  • What is the recommended dosage of iodine and selenium for maintenance?
  • Is the 75mcg Iodoine and 35mcg selenium daily enough?
  • I think I saw @KSMan recommend 200mcg iodine somewhere
  • What multi do you take?

I like taking a legion multivitamin. It appears to be the most comprehensive. It also contains selenium and vitamin k2 which is difficult to find in tandem. K2 is important when supplementing with d3 from a calcium transport perspective. K2 is to calcium in the presence of d3 much like insulin is to glucose.

Thanks man. I’ll look into it.

CHECKING IN @ 09:50 AM EDT 8/29/2017

Not a lot to update today other than my body temps are consistently low and I’ve started making a metabolic temp graph as I indicated previously to detect Thyroid and/or Adrenal issues.

Main reason for update is to ask for input on my labs I am going to request tomorrow

Finally getting to see a new Dr. here in Pittsburgh

  • Anything I am missing?
  • Anything I could drop from the list?

CBC
CMP
Lipids
VITAMIN D, 25-HYDROXY
FSH

TT
FT or bio-T
E2
Prolactin
PSA

TSH
T4
fT4
T3
fT3
rT3
ATA
TPO

Cortisol four sample saliva testing
Pregnenolone
DHEA-S

Anyone have any input?

What do @KSMan and @Hostile think about this set of labs?

Looks comprehensive.

Thanks for the input.

  • Yesterday’s appointment with new doc went horribly off the rails
  • Dr had no interest in discussing my situation or protocol
  • Blanket statements Dr made
    • Does not believe in hCG for men with TRT
    • Does not believe that testicles will atrophy with testosterone if TT is kept at ~700
    • Does not believe in monitoring E2 or using AI to control it
    • Does not believe in frequent dosing to smooth out peaks/troughs (he’s in the 1 shot a week camp)
    • “I went to medical school…” ← He lost me here by pulling the condescension
  • Dr was frustrated by me changing my protocol based on my previous labs (High TT and FT led to me lowering my weekly dosing
  • I didn’t even mention SQ vs IM injection (his head might have exploded)
  • Suffice it to say he is not the Dr I was hoping he would be (one willing to collaborate in my health)
  • I still have a lot to learn - I’m open to discussing things and getting his perspective - he seemed to be “on the clock”

  • My new medical insurance took effect but I have a high deductible plan so my lab costs are going to be out of pocket regardless
  • Wife and I discussed just paying out of pocket for new labs like I did in July
  • I need to pare down some of the tests I was planning to get
  • Will have to look for another doc for my PCP and possibly a TRT clinic here locally to get new Rx’s

Thanks for posting up those codes. Great idea!

Sorry to hear about the doc troubles. It’s shocking to me that someone who goes into medicine would have his head so far up his ass. After all, you’d think someone who would subject themselves to that many years of grueling work and crippling debt would have a vested interest in HELPING people…
