really straining on those. It’s light day and still very stressful. How is it possible to weight 200 pounds and still have skinny arms? Somehow that’s how it’s always been. Benching just crushes me.

got back to my regular level

Dip half dip, only 2 or 3 reps barely
Last year I weighed 20 pounds less, could knock out a few dips and a couple pullups. Now I weigh more and strength is same so bodyweight exercises kill me. They say you want strength, gain weight. I put on weight, strength stayed the same. Muscle didn’t grow at all.

This was my light day and was still half torture.

Um, I’ve been posting for the past few years.

I must’ve started on a post a ways back. Still getting use to the new format.

The new format sucks. Takes a while to get to the Over 35 people.

Gym closed for easter. I stayed home and did some band work and some sortof dips on the counter tops.

So been doing something different. When out for a walk, been trying to speed up. Been unhappy with just the slow going I’ve been doing. Pick up the pace till I’m panting. Well, today’s workout saw my conditioning much better, hardly breathing.

while I was doing this, friend was next to me, doing OH. We got talking, he had never done deadlift. I mentioned him before, I was doing hex bar lifts 235 pounds. He was curious and lifted it 3 times with no problem. He had never deadlifted before. So today I’m doing regular deads. I showed him the right way to do it, feet close to bar, arch back. He tries 175 and says it feels better when you do it right. Maybe he’ll actually start deadlifts, I don’t know. He’s one of these guys who’s just gifted and can lift anything without trying. When I started deads about 20 or 30 years ago I could barely do 65 or so.

When my father was young he was like that. He walked into my brother’s weightlifting session at the high school one afternoon to pick his son up. “Come on Mr. Friedrich! Bench this!”. So they loaded six plates. He proceeded to assume the position. It was not a cake walk, but according to legend he put it up. He became inspired and proceeded to lift Nautilus for a year. He loved it, he would HIT, then drink beer with the owner. The legend grew.

Some folks are like that. Not me…
