Like anybody hears of muslims they think of suicide bombings and religious mania, the person now thinks of Catholic priests as molestors of boys. There is truly nothing sacred anymore. Nothing beyond killing or disgust, no religion. How does one keep the faith?
Any faith at all. They are all filthy. No prophets to believe in, no clear road to travel that isn’t fraught with the bones of the murdered or cries of the children.
I am not an atheist. I am a person who refuses to follow the sickened ways of man, man who claims to follow god yet pollutes his path with the bodies of the innocent and cries out for money. Every church in these lands are infected. They are zombies of weakness and hate. I refuse to follow them.
That goes for religions in every land that stretches across this universe. I have forsaken you all. Yet, I am not godless. I have not closed eyes …I feel the wounds and I cry for the souls. I have more compassion and more god in my veins than your hateful religion allows.
I can hear the children without them speaking. I have no fear of my afterlife …for I know I can communicate just the same, with no words. I have learned how. Floating and bodyless I can lead. A third eye sight. Opened. Universe…broken.
This is a very good post.

Really? I thought she was on drugs. I mean, did you read the floating and bodyless bit?

I felt this post actually highlighted some of the issues and misconceptions that are out there, you do have to think about it.

The problem is not the religion itself by any means. But I would never listen to these sanctimonious priests who act like they have a window into God and morality when many of them are themselves some of the most corrupt and debased people on the planet.
I can read and understand the Bible as well as they can. And adhere to its fundamental precepts with much less hypocrisy.
I hadn’t been to a church for almost 20 years when I got my new job. I’m a support worker and I support 3 adults with learning difficulties, two of which are Catholic. So, as part of my job, if I was on shift on Sunday morning, I took 'em to mass. And, no word of a lie, I still could recite the whole mass word-for-word.
I’ve since dropped Sunday shifts coz mass is boring as…hell.
Protestantism makes you feel like if you do wrong you’re going to burn in hell. Catholicism simply informs you that your dead relatives are always watching over you, which is a real pisser when you are a horny teenager.

I think more churches should be firm and stick to their principles, even if that means they alienate and lose adherents.
Too many salad-bar believers going around.
Very strange coming from an orthodox atheist. The church is firm, but this priest is making a bad decision. He is not sticking to the principals of the church. You do not shut the door in people’s faces based on how they voted.
Refusing sacraments is a big deal and really only reserved for the worse of the worse unrepentant evil doers. The church is for anybody who wants to be there. He would be better spending his time educating his practitioners on what stances Obama has that are against the church.
Why the church has those stances and how they can encourage an Obama administration to refrain from doing harm and strive to do good. Cock blocking and grand standing is not going to do a fucking thing to unelect Obama.
Everybody would be better served by open and frequent dialog with his administration rather then stonewalling his supporters and using Communion as a weapon for political agenda. It’s just simply unproductive. [/quote]
It is not shutting the door in their face, they are saying they need to be right before the lord before they take communion.

Does such a creature exist in the wild?
I am kidding, a bit :P. In my family, practicing Catholics have skipped an entire generation. Only the old ladies are going to mass now and even they spend a lot of time complaining about the priests, the pope or the church. The only exceptions are for weddings, funerals and Christmas, when we all start practicing again, and that’s only so we don’t face the wrath of my Aunt Mary. Aside from the old ladies, I haven’t actually met a serious practicing Catholic in years. And I’m definitely not one.
If you put your faith in man, you will always be disappointed. This priest, for instance, is making a poor decision. You cannot refuse sacraments of the church to anybody unless you know they’re hearts and relationship with the Almighty. Since that is not knowable unless the person chooses to reveal it themselves then he should not be refusing the sacrament. It helps no one to do so.
I personally think Obama is a bad person, or at least extremely misguided. Most who voted for him, though, really did so with the best of intentions, so this man should not refuse communion to the congregation.

Wrong, Catholic Priests and Bishops and obliged to withhold communion from PUBLIC sinners, one such example would be Joe Biden - claims to be a Catholic but supports abortion, because of his position (prominent politicial) the Catholic church takes the view that he is actually facilitating abortion therefore he is de-facto ex-communicated, several Priests and Bishops spoke out against him during the election.
A priest may not refuse a private sinner communion under any circumstances, even if he knows the person in question is guilty of the worst crimes.
The difference between the two is a question of public scandal.
Anyway the priest in question didn’t refuse anyone communion as far as I know - how could he know who you voted for? He stated that those who voted for Obama should not receive communion which is a correct thing to say given the Churches teaching on the issue.

Bullshit. I don’t know where circles you hang around but despite all the bad press and all the bullshit and misinformation (such as your post) the population of Catholics in the world and indeed in the U.S. is growing. Interestingly enough, at least in my area, the largest demographic becoming Catholics are blacks. This is really good stuff. Don’t believe everything the media says. It’s not always true, believe it or not.

You are correct here. I would categorize Biden as a Catholic, purposefully and intentionally misleading others on abortion would have him join the ranks of “really bad” catholic. It’s more than he is an unrepentant supporter of abortion, he has blood on his hands for his actions promoting and enabling abortions. He should be refused communion, until he changes and reconciles. This makes him worse than Obama in that he really does know better.

My understanding is that he was refusing communion. It wouldn’t be the first time the media sensationalized lies about the Catholic church…If he is educating and explaining that is fine. A lot of people, including Catholics, consider abortion to be just another political issue they need to know a vote for a pro-abortionist is an enabling act for abortion. A lot of folks don’t get that connection.

That’s as ignorant a statement as I have ever heard. So do you think if the chick’s on top she can’t get pregnant either?

I am one…As a general rule I don’t flaunt it nor do I wish to shove it down anyone’s throat. That is why, most of my arguments are based in the secular realm. I don’t have to pull from the wisdom of the Masgisterium to make a point. Most moral and ethical realities are true whether the church supports them or not, so I don’t have to. And if I did, personal biases would immediately shut them out as some sort of religious kookery. So yes, I am one.
