Carbs in Seitan??

just a quick question guys.

I’ve been trying to find the caloric content of the seitan (gluten), but there are like 10 different version on the internet.

Some sources claim that 100gr of seitan contain 25% of protein and no carbs, other that it contain 40% of protein and 40% of carbs!!!

thanks in advance (and no i have no the cepahlic sdfdsgf or whatever desease)

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to consume seitan?

well i was seeing the way to add more protein to my diet, and seitan is a cheap protein source.

i just wanted to see if it was counterproductive( for the carbs matter)

anyone?

It depends on the specific product, but it is generally much less than 40% carbs. I think it’s safe to say that there will always be AT LEAST a 2 to 1 ratio of protein to carbs, if not 4 to 1 or more. Here’s a specific product breakdown. It really comes down to finding a product with the breakdown you want. Here’s one that is 18g protein, 3g carbs in 85 grams. www.tofutown.net/shared/nutrition.php?pid=54

Thanks bro, i’ve been searchin too and it seems that it’s around 20-40% of protein.

The one i’m willing to consume is homemade wheat flour gluten.

thanks

Just because gluten is a protein does not necessarily mean it is “muscle building;” not all proteins are the same. I would not rely on gluten as a protein source like eggs, mean, dairy.

ok i’ll have that in mind.

I’m already eating meat, eggs, some whey shakes, i just wantes to add a little extra protein.

i’ll better have some extra whey.
