Carbs and Contest Water Manipulation

Hey CT, I know this thread is old, but I would be thankful if you can answer a couple of questions about the water manipulation.

Recently, you said that you like to cut water AFTER the bulk of the carb-up has already been completed. I have a contest coming up myself and i was wondering on whether it would be better to keep chugging back the water until the water is shut off completely on the friday before my friday contest or if a pre-determined amount like say… 1/2 a gallon to 1 gallon spread throughout the day is better to drink before the water cut off at the pre-determined time (which for me I will try 11 pm because my pre-judge is at 5-6 pm the next day. Just to see how that works. Trial and error) Would drinking too much water while eating carbs cause a spillover if you are not yet “full” or can should i chug back the water not worrying so long as im not “full” i won’t spill over?

To save you all the reading and summarize my questions they are:

  1. Friday before the Sat contest is it better to drink as much as i can while carbing up before my official “water cut” begins?

  2. Or is it better to drink 1/2 gallon to 1 gallon spread out throughout the day until the official “water cut” begins?

Then again, I also understand that it would be hard to say and it is individual and you cannot give a definitive answer unless you were working with, and saw how the athlete’s body was looking/reacting. Don’t want to come off as “demanding an answer”. I’ll try both methods as I am competing in back to back weekends and then in a month after that.

Different competitions and i’ll try different water techniques (unless i get it right the 1st time) and post the result for anyone/lurkers that are wondering the same questions or anyone else who’s wondering of the outcome. Its several weeks away though, so it will be a while. And while it is very individual person to person, this might give someone some ideas of what they could try before they know what works for them.

About the shredded in six days, I’m currently on the “flushing mode” part and I think its going fairly well (although the frequent urination is rather inconvenient in class).

I am hoping to peak Friday evening, so should I cut my water Thursday evening, or just drink a lot before bed and then don’t drink all day Friday? Also, after the quick refilling with fruit and other fast absorbing carbs are finibars a good carb source to rely on for my middle meals before my high sugar carbs right before my unveiling?
