Carb Cycling

I recently started a carb cycling diet plan to cut. I only use a high carb and very low carb day. My high carb day is just around my maintenance calories (3000) with about 2 grams of carbs per pound of body weight (about 400 grams).

On my low carb days I only eat 1800 calories, and my only carbs come from 3 servings of vegetables, and some fiber in my shakes. High and low carb days are alternated continuously. Most carb cycling plans I have read about use a high, moderate, and low day. Is my diet plan ok, or is there anything I’m doing wrong. Any help is appreciated

You might want to leave some room to progress. Start with your two hardest lifting days as high days, the other lifting days as medium. And have a small amount of carbs on the low days. That way you’ll have some room to cut things out as you progress.

The thing is I have 3 full body training days, which are my high carb days. I was going to cut calories as I lost weight to progress.

Carb cycling has become quite a buzzword in the weight loss industry. carb cycling can be a very effective diet technique to use. Carb cycling is a technique competitive body builders use to shed maximum fat prior to a competition.

If you only have 3 training days then you could start them on high carb days. I don’t know what your stats are. And I’m not entirely familiar with the diet. You can shoot a question to Shelby at elitefts.com. He’s pretty much the go-to guy when it comes to carb cycling. Send him a question with your macros laid out for your lifting and non lifting days. He’ll give you some advice. Not too much, but he’d point you in the right direction.

What’s your approach on low carb days?
I use a paleo themed diet on low carb days.
I carb cycle and have experienced amazing results.

I eat 1700-1800 calories, no carbs except for vegetables and a couple of teaspoons of fiber in my shakes. I don’t remember exactly what my macros are. Something like 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, and the rest fat from fish oil, egg yolks, and nuts.
