Carb Cycling: Carbs on Low Days

So I have just finished reading this article:

http://www.tnation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_nutrition/a_beginners_guide_to_carb_cycling

My question is, even on low days it is saying to take in a gram of carbs. per pound of bodyweight. Is this correct? This is more than I take in on heavy training days. Just wary about it, but am curious about others opinions. Tkans

It says 0.5-1.5g/lb. If you’re 200lb, that’s 100-300g, or 400-1200kCal of CHO… not very much, especially since your brain will use ~150g.

Thanks for the response. Curious however, taking myself as an example, 235 lbs., for me on on a high day in just protein and carbs. alone if I am do the low figures I would still be taking 2810 cal; on my low and moderate days if I take the low figures given it would still be roughly 1960 cal. These calories seem like an awful lot to take in for fat loss.

However I guess my question is how does carb.cycling work in terms of losing fat if total calories for the week are more than my caloric output? Or does carb. cycling work in terms of changing body composition instead of merely shedding weight? Thanks and sorry all the questions.

150g carbs for ‘your brain’?

Fair enough, but as the article states your not likely to deplete that much Glycogen over the course of one day - with the average guy storing up to 600g a few days low carbs < 50 - 100 isn’t gonna do any harm, unless you’ve got a massive brain like those aliens in ‘Mars Attacks’

Seriously though - my comment cheerfully withdrawn, very interesting article thanks for posting
