ok thanks man.
Also curious about something: I know kiefer says to use leucine Post workout, but all I currently have is humapro. So…would humapro be sufficient post workout? (I believe it’s mostly leucine, no?)

So what’s the most whey you can have?
I just bought 16 lbs of whey, lol.
An off day typicallly looks like this for me:
Coffee w/ 1tbsp coconut oil
8oz chicken, 4 servings almonds, veges
35g whey, 1tbsp coconut oil
35g whey, 1tbsp coconut oil
8oz chicken, 4 tbsp almonds, sunflower seeds
All those meals are spaced throughout the day. But Pshannon, you’re saying that you Can’t have whey? PS I do have the book
Podcast “questions and answers part 2” 56:00 minuets - “It causes hormonal problems. Your not really doing the diet your half assing it”
Whey increases amino energy and fat doesn’t get used until later. Once you do this fat burning is blunted, and your body does to other sources for fuel. AKA protein which should be used for repairing muscle.
16lbs wa wa why? Did you just get a barrel of whey?
Also, the plant fats you have are fine, but there not good. Nuts not good. EVOO not necessary.
Bacon?
I got the 16 lbs whey in a barrel basically, yes ![]()
I don’t use EVOO, I use coconut oil. I basically schedule my off days to be as painless as possible. So, I wait a bit after waking and have coffee w/ coconut oil. Next, after a few hours, I have some chicken w/ veges and 4 servings of almonds ( I love almonds). Later on, I’ll have some tuna or more chicken or something, then 1-2 tbsp coconut oil…this might be 2 meals. At night, I like to eat a lot again. So I have more chicken and veges, w/ 4 servings of almonds, and a small bag of sunflower seeds. Eating these ‘big’ meals keeps me from saying fuck it and buying a pint of ice cream lol. I use this as a template though, and often sub in turkey bacon and/or eggs, etc. I just REALLY like almonds and find this is easy to stick to.
I will stop using whey unless it’s post workout. I’m experimenting with some things, one of which is working out on a day w/ off day macros. So on such a day, I will have a whey shake post workout, with some leucine. But on a true off day, I wont’ have any whey.
PS what’s the verdict on crystal light and knock off crystal light?

Whey should be saved for post-workout or in the Accelerator shakes only.
Efff… that’s 50-75g of protein I’ve got to make up. lol
@Spidey: How many grams of Protein are you taking a day?
@hiss: Why does it have to be chicken? Beef, sausage, bacon. Higher fat the better.

Why the lean sources of protein (chicken, tuna, turkey bacon)? When I start on CBL I plan on having beef, bacon, cheese, etc. Also with 4 servings of almonds at once, that’s a good amount of usable carbs and can still cause an insulin spike.

I try to get in about 200g everyday.

Sorry Stupid on my part… i meant how much do you weigh? or target?
LOL… seems for an 80-90 dollar book, Keifers got some key elements missing or outdated (like the 2 hr window). I seem to even recall a podcast or article where he talks about With his plans for podcasts and a CBL certification, seems like book / software updates are low priority. Seems to me that CBL is just a modified set of rules based off of IF with a 12 hour max fast. Low carbs on off days and pre workout. High carbs post workout, cycle calories on rest / workout days. Everything else seems to be minor details and tweaking for personalization.

I’m about 190 right now. Doing SA right now, trying to lean out and gain some strength.
Ok after reading up, I decided to change up my off days. What do yall think?
Wake up, wait a bit
Coffee w/ 1tbsp coconut oil
6 eggs, 4 oz chicken, tomato/bell pepper
Kiefer Coffee (10g whey, 1tbsp coconut oil)
If I lift, I will have leucine + 20g whey post workout, if not, i won’t have this
4oz chicken, 6 pieces bacon, broccoli
6 eggs, 4 servings almonds, sunflower seeds
That’s roughly 1:1 pro:fat, and I think it includes better stuff…what do you guys think?
@spidey22 yeah that looks good for 1:1 protein then.
@hiss: 6 eggs are going to spike your insulin without any fat at meal 1. Up the protein post workout.
Why not this:
Coffee w/ 1tbsp coconut oil 1 tbsp heavy cream
3 eggs,3 pieces of bacon 4 oz chicken, bell pepper
POST WORKOUT: leucine + 20g whey post workout
4oz chicken,3 eggs, 3 pieces bacon, bell pepper
2 tbsp Almond Butter
How have folks been doing with the protein and fat part during first half of day? Does anyone feel the emphasis on fat to protein ratio of 1:1 is overdone? Like, maybe its the pounds of bacon causing bloated/softness rather than just the “carb backloading” part of the day? Would be curious to hear…thanks
I’m typing this completely uninformed, but did someone really write an $80 book about eating a big PWO meal with carbs?

hahahahaha anyone who would pay 80$ for any diet book of any kind by any author, most be disturbingly desperate.
i only read one article on this a while ago but isnt this whole thing basically leangains but eating P+F during the day before the big meal instead of nothing?
Im not going to check this thread to see if this question got answered, i just had to comment because the fact that so many people can fall and quickly become disciples of this never ending stream of diet trends is beyond me.
btw i got abz now bitchzzzzzz
seacrest out

Everyone has to make a buck. So it cant be exactly like lean gains. THere has to be some differences come on. How could you sell it otherwise.
Honestly he likes to say that its so easy yet ppl seem to keep finding these rules he has in place. Everyday i see a new rule posted that was in a pod cast or somewhere. So according to all these new rules i am not even close to CBLings yet i am having great results. I dunno. I do waht i like and what works. I liked the original book where it was just low carb pro and some fat pre workout then carbs after a workout. Now that is simple not comlicated and very easy to do day in and out. No need to worry if i am going gram for gram of pro/fat. Or if i had more than 10g of whey (the insulin will drop fast and fat burning will resume fast from this but not according to keifer), not being abelt to eggs unless specialy prepared ect.

Just want to throw in my diet for critique:
Off Days/Low Carb Day: Mondays and Thursdays
Fast for a few hours in the morning, then I eat…
1st meal: 6 eggs with some sausage, sour cream, cheese, and salsa
Later: 2 scoops whey with 3 tbsp of VCO
Dinner: 8oz of chicken/beef/pork in a salad with lots of ranch and cheese
Snack: Scoop of whey with 2 tbsp of VCO
Also have some Diet Dr. Pepper in there, and often times I replace one of the whey shakes with some cottage cheese or more meat at dinner. Keifer said the eggs are fine as long as it’s with all the other fatty sources
Your not backloading with 2 scoops of whey. That will spike your insulin taking you out of any type of fat burning. If you listen to the podcasts Keifer says “if your just drinking protein shakes all day you might at well just eat carbs.”
Watch the Diet Dr. Pepper if it has Ace-K
I don’t think a lot of people have the book around here. I know the book seems to be a little vague at times, but its all in there. NO place in the book does it say take 2 scoops of anything, or drink protein consistently.
I don’t mean to belittle your efforts. Im always a supporter of backloaders
No I have the book, but I was pretty positive he said that having the VCO with whey would greatly reduce the insulin response in an interview with him. Kind of like the eggs; if you are eating JUST eggs, or JUST protein then yeah insulin is getting spiked. But combining it with fats was ok.
And yeah the Ace-K isn’t in Diet Dr. Pepper.
Since the whey is broken down into such a fast absorbing form, the fat will not metabolize fast enough to blunt any of the whey. Fat can take up to 3 hours to give you energy. Combining eggs with bacon is a whole different story. Both are whole foods.
I dont see why the fat needs to be broken down to blunt the insulin response. That would occur because fat slows digestion/gastic emptying which slow the absorption of the whey? Does fat all of a sudeen not do these things?

Yea, I’m really not sure where this came from. The charts in the book are nowhere near 1:1.
