The car salesman is going to look at you like you’re a f*cking idiot…

If you are going to buy a new car get gap coverage. If you plan on keeping it a long time get the extended warranty plan. It sounds stupid but when your Hyundai sh*ts out on you at 46,000 miles you will be happy you have it.
Hyundai warranty is 5yr/60,000 B2B and powertrain 10yr/100,000 miles so I really wouldn’t get the extended warranty. Or the gap coverage for that matter.

And the Optima = Sonata not the Elantra. Elantra = Forte

I personally wouldn’t leave a dealership with a brand new car and not have gap coverage due to the immediate depreciation. I guess we can agree to disagree on that point.

Although I am pro investing I think this is silly advice. Judging by what the OP has written in this thread do you really think he is dept free? Most Americans carry dept with interest rates that would far outweigh the return on any investments.

Obviously there are exceptions like 401k and using an IRA during end of year tax prep but to blindly dole out advice, come on now.

True on the depreciation but it’s not like that gap coverage covers you if you sell the car and are still upside down. I base it off the chances I’m going to total that car. I’ve had 0 of those incidents (que knock on wood moment) and so to me it was based on my financial situation. I’m probably missing other benefits of gap coverage with that incredibly limited view point but I am also trying to get out of debt (as you alluded to in your following post) so any additional money in my pocket is great for paying that down.

I have a 2000 Suburban.

300,000 miles on it.

It’s taken out a light pole, and one deer (so far).

Ex flipped it on it’s side, snapped a rear axle then dumped it back on me.

She said it was totaled.

I fixed it for $500 and a couple weekends of labor.

I think it will last longer then I will.
Over/under 6 miles/gallon?

Da f*ck?

I think you can trade your balls in, straight up.
Well, I’m pretty sure a mini van will have a bigger engine than my current ride. Plus, there’s plenty of room for my buddies and if I want to I could take the seats out and haul stuff around. I’d love to have one of those.
I’m sure I’ll get shit for this but since you want A) good gas mileage B) Reliability and C) Roominess for your bros why not look into a Scion xB. They are toyota motors and the 1st model (up until 2007 I think) regularly get 34ish mpg. Plus they are roomy as shit. I’m 6’2 and was able to easily sit behind myself with room to spare.
Based on his criteria, I agree, that sounds like a good fit.

I use my car to get from Point A to point B, so in that sense it is very practical. Grocery shopping on the other hand…

ha, I went to give an in home consultation to a client. We started talking cars, and the clients says, “Would you like to see my porsche collection”? I figure bullshit.

The client had a stand alone building full of 11 vintage porsches. And 2 daily drivers(not porsches)

damnnnnnnnnnn

I was just messing with my dad the other day about his. brand new 911 carera S, he has put less than 3k miles on it in 9 months. Told him his tires are going to melt in the garage before they wear out on the street.

Tesla Model S. … It’s the safest car available.
Ha. Tell you what. I’ll get into my supercharged range rover with its 16mpg, you get into your Tesla, and we’ll have a head-on wreck. As my multi-ton mass of steel and aluminium turns your vehicle into plastic and exploding batteries, let’s see which vehicle is the “safest.”

Or, heck, let’s do this with a 10 year old Ford F250 and your Tesla. Far cheaper, and the ladder frame convenietly placed at your sholder height chopping your head off would be super cool.

Seriously. Tesla’s are fine and all, and have great safety records for little tiny vehicles, but the bigger the vehicle, the safer it is. It’s just physics.

(Sorry about the rant; their ads are very misleading, as are the safety reports.)

And no, I don’t really want to chop off your head.

Subaru anyone?

Yeah, I was in awe. Pretty sure the oldest one is a 356. All in great shape.

I’m guessing he has a SO, if the car stays in the garage that much? lol

It gets better then 6 mpg.

And when I have six kids to haul when I get to see them, there’s plenty of room.

They create too much smug. Bad smug poluters.

Also, there was a study that Pious drivers are the rudest on the road (seriously).

You’re starting to be be a stereotype, Beth. Next your profile photo will have you in a flannel shirt.

I remember reading something about that…

I don’t think ^this^ was the article, the one I read compared Prius drivers to luxury car drivers.

Edit: Maybe this is it. I normally don’t read MSN Money though… Weird.

I see a myriad of dykes driving big trucks. With stickers on them reading “Silly boy trucks are for girls” And it’s some obese 60 year old dyke with a flat top? lol

To each their own.

Subaru is the official vehicle brand of the National Ski Patrol - I live in the great white north and I both ski and snowboard. So yes, sterotype.

subaru’s are only gay if you get a non-turbo model.

back to the op, was the FREE BMW owned by the same person since new? Was it taken to the dealer for service/oil changes? If yes, you’re a fool to get rid of it.
