x2. That is some serious liftin’ Danjo. How far are you from 600? Or has it been a while since you tested?
Haven’t tested. Jim Wendler’s Calculator that came with the e-book calculates 425x9 as 550. It was an ugly set. The social butterfly hung me up for a while and I felt out of the groove, but I was determined to get nine. My legs were still pretty sore from Monday’s squat. This almost always makes me use more low back, but I feel good.
Thanks LS and jj.
That set of squats was strong, ugly or not. High rep squats will test who you are. Nice work!
You’re looking friggin’ strong Dan. You only weigh like 220 or 240 right? You’re ready for a meet.

There are a bunch but they’re mostly Push-Pulls, a couple of APA and Dave Follensby meets. USPF Mass and NH are this fall, but I don’t think they have a raw div, and they’re like a month away. The USAPL Mass is Dec 12th, but I might have class on that day. I’ll figure something out.

Weird day today. I go out of my way to not get in anyone’s way. It is much any member’s gym as it is mine. I try to smile and be cordial no matter how much of an idiot you want to act like.
A nice guy in the gym saw me squatting and gave me some advice. I should wear a belt when squatting, b/c I’m going to hurt my back. As I started to say something he totally cut me off, like I was some lunk head who couldn’t fathom what I was doing to myself. Now instead of him being a nice guy giving me some friendly advice, he is a tool box in my book.
One of the ab exercises I did today was a hand walk out on a physio ball to a push up plank position. From their I lift one leg, hip extension, and alternate, then roll back. This one dude just walks right in front of me as I was about to roll out. He just kind of looked at me with a dumb look on his face. No “exuse me” nor did it appear that he walked by without noticing, being totally ignorant. I could have bought that, it happens. Nope just some window licker being a douche. “Just move on dude. I have things to do and no time to waste on haters.”
I get envious of you guys, LS, eco, soldog with nice home gyms.
Stories like this make me happy I train at 5am. Good work Danjo

Funny story. I was seriously thinking about pulling the chute and not squatting last night. I posted my indecision on Facebook and an ex-gf of my best friend from high school ended up talking me into going. I also tried out Jim Wendler’s recommended warm up and everything felt great leading up to the all out third set, then that set was one of the best I’ve ever had. I burried every rep deep, I could hear the seams of my shorts splitting as I sank into the hole and I got the eight reps to match the set from the prior wave, and I easily had 1-2 more reps in the tank.

Funny how it works like that. Good squatting
Dan, what does Jim Wendler suggest for a warmup??
ecogenx wrote:

It’s just 40% x 5 reps, 50% x 5 reps and 60% x 3 reps. Like the deload except you do two less reps at 60%.
