I’ve been searching and reading the T-Nation articles for the last three days and still can’t find the article that says: “There are no essential carbs” I cant remember who wrote it or which section its in. I’ve used the search function for every term relevant and looked through every JB article, but alas I’m requesting assistance. If anyone knows which article I’m looking for off hand, please post the title or a link.
(Don’t get crazy and start harping about using the search function, been there done that)
not to sound rude or anything but so what if there are no essential carbs?
are we eating for performance/muscle gain/fat loss or to simply “survive”?
if your aim is to survive on as little as possible than by all means exclude the carbs, but if you want to achieve optimal body composition, than at least some proportion of carbs should be included in your diet.
Thanks ladies, as for JM its more informational than practical. I’m building a 14 week transformation program and I remember that phrase from an article and thought it would be a good read while I was a researching.
This is a VERY common phrase that has been used in countless articles. Just type the phrase in to google to see for yourself. I’m not sure who coined it first.
I know I first read it in the Anabolic Diet by Mauro DiPasquale

I hear you, it’s just that people trot out that phrase in an attempt to make straight ketogenic diets sound inherently superior to non-keto diets. But while it may be true that there are no essential carbs, eating only what is essential does not equate to eating optimally.

JM listen to Pro-Bodybuilding Weekly’s podcast from 2/23 about half way through they discuss Keto vs. Non-Keto dieting [/quote]
no disrespect, but I doubt that there’s anything there I haven’t heard before. what specifically did they say?
