Police say they’ve seized one of the largest stashes of anabolic steroids and prescription drugs, including Viagra, ever found in Quebec from a house in Thérèse-de-Blainville, north of Montreal.
Investigators found more than 400,000 pills and injectable substances, including steroids and methamphetamines, in the home.
Frédéric Vigant, 38, was arrested and faces several charges including drug possession and trafficking after police raided his home last July while following up on a domestic disturbance call and stumbled upon the drugs.
They believe the drugs were destined for amateur weightlifters, said Det. Roger Monette of the Thérèse-de-Blainville Police force. “You would not find these quantities in a huge pharmacy, let alone in the basement of a residence,” he said.
“The products that we had here was sort of a central lot that was to be distributed to the street vendors or street salespeople in the gyms,” he said.
The raid, done earlier this fall, has cut off a large supply chain of illegal stimulants, he said.
Police also seized almost 400 marijuana plants.
