Things I have noticed with in my experience with the cops.
They will always use the “stop resisting” line no matter what, and then hit the person.
They will just straight up tackle someone for no apparent reason.
They are assholes
Every thursday, like 10 cops would come into the bar and just be complete assholes, it was insane. When there was an actual fight, did they do anything, no?
I’m still fucking pissed at the Knoxville PD. You guys know who Montario Hardesty is right? The running back for the UT Vols. Well one night a couple of his buddies got into a fight so me and 2 other bouncers break it up and get ready to take them out, then all the sudden Montario hits me in the side of the head while I’m not even looking, hit’s another bouncer wrestling on the floor with another guy, eats an elbow from me and runs outside.
There are 6 cops standing outside, and Montario is standing with them. I tell them this guy just cheap sucker punched two of us, and the cops were like uhhhh and just let him walk away because of who he was. Fuckers.
One other thing…I’m not sure how it works for cops but when I got my unarmed security license (meaning I could carry mace and a baton but no firearm). The instructors told us that if you aren’t in a really fucked up situation do not use the baton, because you can easily be sued for using it and most of the time will lose.
Like I said, I don’t know how it works for cops, but when you have a guy being pinned down by 6 guys and is getting hit by a baton in the back, that’s pretty fucked up and I think grounds for some consequences for the officers.

So my “sickness” does not affect other people the way those “healthy” cops affect other people.
Which is probably why I do not get shot.

That is almost word for word from the use of force model in Canada. How did you come across that? I’m a police foundations student and this whole incident makes me totally sick. The police werent wrong in what they did but in the same way that the courts have to pass judgment while keeping the public’s view in mind so should these officers. I’m not even a cop yet and I feel like this reflects negatively on myself. My professors are going to be going into detail all thing regarding the UWO incident.

OK, I thought as much that you were a L.E.O. Just for yourself and anyone else who is watching this UWO video then here is the Canadian Use of Force Model my teachers give out. Its too bad we couldnt see footage of this thing from the start so we could accurately access the progression of the whole incident, but overall there is no problems. It all comes down to public opinion though.
Never mind about the use of force model, just wont load but its basically the same.
It is not a step by step approach though. This way an officer can go from talking to a person to using a TASER without the steps in between. The guy in the video did keep on struggling, so regardless of all other factors, if he had stopped resisting then the officers would immediately stopped fighting him.

This is basically the same opinion I hold, unfortunately the laws we have are too black and white. I’m also glad to see that despite being in law enforcement, you acknowledge that most cops are complete pricks with as you say “small man syndrome”, this is one of the primary reasons I despise police and even though I know I’ve done nothing wrong still get nervous when they’re around lest they single me out for some arbitrary reason.
My opinion is that things are too random. What kind of cop am I about to deal with? You might deal with asshole cops. Stupid cops. And if you’re “lucky” nice, rule abiding cops with some common sense. When you deal with asshole cops that talk down to you as if they know you’ve done something wrong, you’re gonna get flustered, say the wrong thing and they will catch you on it.
And once you’ve dealt with 1 asshole cop, you’re always going to be nervous about dealing with another. It’s the randomness that makes people nervous (or me at least).

The idea was more that you either resist or you dont.
Why halfheartedly resist if you are not willing to do what it takes anyway?
Therefore you a) shot the cop or b) go along peacefully.
Kind-of resistance means just acting like a drama queen.
