Just started 100mg weekly injections a this past week.
I have had 3 labs done. All have shown very low free t and low total t.
Last labs my total t was 190 (240-800)
My free t was 3.4 (9.9-30)
My Estrone was just below the ref range.
Other than these 3 my cortisol was a little high but everything else looked pretty good.
I was started on a wax troche 3 months ago, and took clomid for one week before I was advised on here to stop. So I took the advice and have started the injections. I did not feel any different after the first injection, but that’s to be expected.
My dr links low t to sexual function more than energy. So he doesn’t think my exercise intolerance is due to my t,
I cant even jog for 3 minutes and that’s no joke. Im 30 yrs old, and I weigh 170. I was active in the past, so im just wondering if anyone else has experienced this level of exercise intolerance just from the t?
Your doctor is a moron, testosterone is link to erections, muscle growth, energy and vitality. Listing estrone tells me you are working with incompetence, estrone is a useless lab as it pertains to TRT. You’ve been a member here long enough to know weekly injection is far from optimal. You need to split those injections 2-3 times per week which is based off your SHBG levels.
Refusing to do what’s been recommended to you is only going to complicate treatment and take much longer to recover and feel normal again. You don’t even have sensitive estrogen labs, you’re basically flying blind. Mark my words, “this doctor is going to fail you miserably”.
Yes he is a moron. I am in the process of switching my primary dr. My estrogen was good so I didn’t post that, as well as my SHBG levels which were only a little above optimal but well within the ref range.
As far as doing 2 injections per week, can I just split the 100mg to 50mg and do it twice a week and leave the dr out of this? I’m good with that, I don’t trust the dr anyway.
I know well respected hormone specialists start guys out on two weekly injection even with SHBG higher, the problem with weekly injections as levels drop, SHBG can increase since androgens decreased. 50mg twice weekly is a good starting point that may or may not need an increase (60-70mg x2) to get levels to high normal.
Going to your primary doctor is another mistake, primary doctors aren’t qualified enough to replace hormones. They are good if you have a cold or bronchitis, you need a “hormone specialists” end of story.
Sounds good, i’ll just do 2 injections. I started out at a private “natural” clinic which was actually able to diagnose the problem, but my insurance would not cover injections through them. My dr offered to have me see an endo but I said no thanks.
What do you think about the exercise part? If I go to the store and walk for 20 minutes that feels like a hard workout. I have to sit and rest after that.
When you say “exercise intolerance” what do you mean exactly?
Out of breath? fatigued? Too weak?
Always post relevant labs. Even if you think they’re “good” the more info, the better.
I will get out of breath quickly, but my muscles fatigue and fail before my breath becomes an issue. I have the heavy limbs feeling 24/7. The only time I was able to walk for 30 minutes and not have the muscles burn out was my 4th week taking a 75mg wax troche. I felt pretty good for a week or so. That quickly tapered off and I just started t cypionate injections last week.
I will post the rest of the numbers soon
Most guys starting TRT notice significantly increased energy. What did your blood counts look like?
I’m not sure I’d give up on weekly injections just yet. You may do fine with them, many do. I’m also going to guess that you’ll end up with a higher dose, but maybe not. Starting out with 100mg per week is reasonable. Give it time. You can always increase injection frequency and dosage if needed.
Did you get follow-up blood work to see how you were responding to the troches? Did you notice any benefit?
My free t and total t both were lower after 3 months on the troche’s. After the 3 months on troche’s I was started on clomid by one of my dr’s and after a week of that I was even lower on a 3rd blood test, at which point my primary dr who had been denying I had a t problem at all finally tested me, and promptly started t cypionate, which I was given for the first time last week. Now my primary dr admits I have an issue here, but he’s skeptical that this is my main problem because for the last 8 months he has been pushing ssri drugs because he said I have a chemical imbalance in my brain that’s causing the weakness, yup, its all in my head. So I was just wondering if anyone else had pretty severe fatigue/weakness that interfered with any exercise.
I hope you give testosterone a solid chance before resorting to SSRI drugs. Some notice increased energy fairly quickly while for others, it can take a few months.
It’s unfortunate that some doctors, when they cannot figure out what is wrong, go to the “it’s in your head” diagnosis.
You need to check your SHBG.
It determines how much test you need and how often.
