I am at this moment at a powerlifting meet coaching. Just got done talking with Wendler the “money set” is not suppose to be crazy. If anything it needs to be conservative
Error on the side of caution …
Btw ladies I hope you like beards his is rather large these days
1000 calories??? How is you’re not homicidal? I agree with Mascherano and the diet is probably working.
Funny thing about the scale, it just doesn’t tell you anything sometimes. I’ve cut back over the last 2 weeks and reduced my carbs so I expect the scale to show a bunch of dropped water weight (I can easily fluctuate 5-10lbs over a couple of days usually) and I’ve clearly gotten firmer in places, my arms are showing it for sure but the scale has not budged. I don’t quite understand it. So f you’re seeing some results, don’t get too hung up on the scale
Cal- stupendous workout on starvation calories<<<just teasin-but that is so hardcore for me, i’d have to be on an illegal substance to survive on that little of food…push-ups + kettlebells is sweet stuff.
i too expected to see a whoosh on the scale by today since i’ve had basically zero carbs (20 or so only from veggies since monday, but alas, did not see it. but i’m looking a bit tighter so i’m going to stick with the anabolic for a few more weeks to see how it works.
hang in there-you will see results soon enough. i’m like you (according to what you’ve mentioned) my body doesn’t want to give up fat for the life of me. it would be easier to get my taxes done at the DMV (dept of motor vehicles, notoriously slow and full of incompetent people) by a blind person than loose this last 10 or so pounds ffs.

Thanks Jim - since I’m old and busted I generally stop my money set once my form starts to break down. Better safe than sorry.[/quote]
Smart girl. Heathy = keep lifting
Don’t be jealous at this very moment we are pulling up to
the cheesecake factory !!!
I learned the KB/push-up thin when I did my 4 hour kettlebell workshop last May. It’ll get you breathing hard, guaratneed.
Talking of which, just did a 6 mile run. (Yay!) So I am well on course for the 10K on March 7th (providing I don’t have a stupid accident in the meantime). Had some butt/ham niggles on the last circuit - piriformis thing - but the worst thing was my blisters again. And sorry if you were having breakfast when you looked at that.
Must remember to tape it up in future, it’s getting tiresome.
Just don’t be too stubborn about the diet+training…
I had an idea? Why not just eat super clean(not dieting) so your training will not suffer(and neither will you!) and then pick a month to do maintainence style training and then diet your heart out…
It just seems like you need all the energy you could get right now.
I won’t bug you anymore about it…
Funnily enough it’s fine to walk on - it’s just when I run, because I’m a forefoot striker.
MiM - thanks for your concern but my energy levels are fine, actually. I don’t know if I should be worried about that - it does concern me a little that I should function so well on so few calories, but I seem to do so. I ate more on Saturday (I’d estimate 1800 calories allowing for supplements) and felt I had lots of energy on the run. Sunday I ate more like 2000 or so. Back on minimal cals for today though - no exercise to get through, just an ART session this evening.
I never understand how taping feet helps blisters - does it just cause a barrier for friction?
Just to throw this out there, what I do when I know I’m going to be running for a while and expect blisters is this (new boots during a soccer match for example). Put vaseline on foot where the blisters are apt to occur, put your socks on, then put vaseline over the sock on the same spot. Never fails.
From doing quite well I’ve gone to doing rather badly - two really piss poor night’s sleep (getting to sleep, no problem - staying asleep - BIG proble. I take ZMA and 5-HTP but neither seem to be able to combat an active mind at 3am), plus I’ve been fighting off a cold that’s been going around the office.
I went to the gym for benching but did little else - it wasn’t great, really.
5/3/1 Cycle 2
Week 2: Day 2
Bench Press
Bar x 10, 30kg x 10, 40kg x 10, (working sets) 42.5kg x 3, 52.5kg x 3, 62.5kg x 4(ish - last rep didn’t touch my chest). (back-off set) 50kg x 10
Was very unsatisfied with the 62.5kg set - I felt lacking in confidence without a spotter and not as strong as I could be (I got 5 reps with this last cycle). Obviously I should cut myself some slack due to the sleep/cold thing, but my ego was disappointed anyway.
rest and take care of yourself - that low cal diet is probably not helping energy levels and sleep.
Cheers

I certainly understand being disappointed. But despite feeling crappy, you showed up for bench day and worked as hard as possible. I’m calling it good.
Thanks for the well wishes. Sleep’s better again and I’ve fought off the cold (just had the “getting sick” feeling with elevated pulse and general crappiness, but snots have not developed. This seems to be a pattern with me catching stuff over the last couple of years - my body deals with it pretty effectively. Which is a nice contrast to 2007 when I was dealing with a trashed immune system and caught everything going). Nonetheless I’m taking a few days away from the gym to ensure I’m fully recovered as I prefer to rest than do a half-arsed workout which won’t aid my progress.
Not sure whether I should just continue 5/3/1 where I left off or redo the second week (or even the entire cycle) - any suggestions?
Oh and I got a couple of boxes of chocolates in the post (I’m a member of a chocolate tasting club, believe it or not. I get enormous pleasure from this - so whilst the timing isn’t fantastic, I mean to enjoy them. Guess I’ll count it as a carb up eh?
Those DB rows weren’t too shabby, so I’m also calling this a good!
Great idea to take a few days from the gym if you’re feeling run down - that way when you head back in you’ll be in top form and looking forward to the workout.
Chocolate tasting club?! Sounds amazing. Chocolate is love.
