Cal's Big Log 3D - Attack of the Giant Arse

Food for Tuesday:

Post training: 2 scoops whey, 2g fish oils
Lunch: 3 egg omelette with bolognese topping, broccoli spears
Later Afternoon: Probiotic yogurt with blueberries, dried figs and prunes and brazil nuts (I know I should be staying away from dried fruit and such but this was a last ditch attempt to try and get my colon moving!)

School today, so it is supposed to be a low carb day.

Have a great first day of school!

Thanks, Dani.

It went OK. It’s odd with all the classes moving up, yet the timetable staying the same, so what might have been my least favourite lesson with one class has become a nicer lesson with another, and vice versa. Some children have also left, some have joined, so different classes have changed size and the dynamic within each class has changed. It’ll be interesting.

Only blip was swimming (today I take years 5 and 6 - the 9 to 11 year olds) only to find it doesn’t start until next week. Doh! So unfortunatley, it means tomorrow’s swimmers (years 1 and 2) now have extra PE. I don’t teach the swimming… I do teach the PE classes. I’ll have to come up with something to amuse them, quickly!

As promised, I went to spinning after school. My arse, quads and, particularly, my groin are suffering after yesterday’s squats so I did a few hypers and clams to warm up, then hopped on the treadmill and walked on an incline for 22 minutes. Stretched a bit. Tried rowing but body just didn’t want it today. Spin class was OK though. Young male instructor today - no silly handlebar push-ups or bouncing up and down in the saddle. I will do more of his classes.

Eats

11.50am 2 scoops whey, 2g fish oils (I would have had this earlier but I actually forgot…busy you see!)
4.15pm 2 scoops whey (forgot to bring more fish oil)
8pm (haven’t eaten it yet, but about to cook it) - slow roasted tomato and pepper soup, can of tuna with EVOO/balsamic vinegar, broccoli, 2g fish oils

I avoided the lovely Tim Tams our Aussie teacher left in the staff room (they’re chocolate biscuits) and also arrived home to find my chocolate tasting club latest selection had arrived…so that’s locked in the cupboard until the weekend comes.

Feel fine - just tired. Not actually hungry but my body will need the food. I can almost see abs (still have handfulls of flesh elsewhere though).

who can avoid Tim Tams?

is this woman not human?

Cal: Seriously, kick ass dietary resolve. I’m impressed.

x3 on the dietary resolve, particularly the tim tams. and here i am, not to help. check out this cake, this is all I want for Christmas this year

i’m already cutting out carbs to prepare for it.

cracked a smile at that one

Grats on the (second) day now, huh??

Yeah. Second day seemed to last a long time! This is largely because it usually starts with swimming (which I don’t teach - I just have to get the kids to the pool, make sure they change, and get them back again…I get half an hour’s sit down while they actually swim) but swimming is cancelled this week so I had to teach three extra lessons.

I’ve met most of the new kids now and they all seem pretty good. I’m hoping they are a good influence on the others.

On the minus - right side of my groin still seems angry. I don’t know if that’s come on because of squatting or spinning (or maybe the run I did last week) but I did go to spinning after school anyway. I think I may cut back on the spin though - mostly to avoid overuse injuries but also to avoid boredom. I do spend some time each class checking my watch to see how soon the end is. I guess it’s not something I take pleasure in, more a necessary evil. I could hop on a Precor or a treadmill or bike or rower but I will stop after a few minutes due to boredom, whereas in a spin class, I’m stuck on that bike for 45 minutes.

Anyway, got it done.

Brachialis was also acting up. I have no idea why - it felt fine yesterday and I haven’t done much today. I guess it could have happened when I moved some benches around in PE. The only other thing I did was hold on to the handrail on the tube going home. I hardly think that would set it off. Bloody thing.

Food:

8.30am 2 scoops whey, 2g fish oils
1pm 2 scoops whey, 2g fish oils
3pm 2 scoops whey
7.50pm Minced beef in spicy tomato sauce over broccoli. 2g fish oils.

Need a cuppa now.

Ugh -

groin pulls suck.

(why’s everyone looking at me like that?)

Oh no, not another elbow pain. Your groin is probably angry because you turned down that guy

Yeah I can see why you might find spin class boring, I sit on my arse all day as it is, hate exercises where I have to spend more time on it.

What kind of whey are you drinking where you can stand to down it so many times a day?

2 x 57.5kg x 3 (new weight)
3 x 60kg x 1

what does that mean? does it mean you did 60kg for three singles? and you did 57.5kg for two triples? sounds like i’m chasing you again :-p

nice squatting! so glad the movement is feeling more comfortable for you and you are making progress. i really don’t think i’ll go for 60kg again any time soon… my lower back protested a bit after that and is only just coming right now (4 days later). 57.5kg for triples… hmm… might try working up to that over the next few weeks…

well done on avoiding the tim tams. i don’t know that i’ve ever successfully managed to do that.

Techno - it’s from a UK company - I’m not sure if I can name rival companies and products on here - but it’s chocolate nut flavour. Tastes like Nutella. Yum. Sometimes I add a little instant coffee in there too.

Alexus - yes, that’s exactly what it means but do remember I’m much heavier. My lower back has been grumpy too, fwiw.

No training today but god, I am exhausted. I barely made it up the steps from the tube station on the way home.

Eats:

8.30am 2 scoops whey, 2g fish oils
12.30pm 2 scoops whey, 2g fish oils
5.30pm Pumpkin soup, can of tuna with EVOO/balsamic, raw mushrooms

First week of school. Everybody is exhausted. Enjoy the weekend.

Saturday 10th September

Back to really appreciating my weekends again. Long holidays are nice but the days run into each other. Working makes your time off that much sweeter.

Gym

Was feeling a bit ropey today - three days of low carbs and most of my injuries were grumbling - elbow, shoulder, lower back, groin, even my knees. I know I need a deload but I really want to put it off for two weeks until I have to visit my parents for my mother’s birthday. I didn’t push too hard on the weights, though.

Warm up:

20 lateral raises (2kg dumbells for all below)
20 front raises
20 overhead presses
20 curls
20 hammer curls
20 L raises
20 bent over raises
10 YTWLs

10 clean and press (not really a press, I actually throw it in the air and catch it) with body bar
10 good mornings with body bar

Military Press:

2 x Bar x 10
25kg x 10
5 x 30kg x 5

I knew I didn’t have much in my for this exercise and didn’t want to stress my already grumbly shoulder, so stuck with 5 x 5. That was hard enough, trust me.

Superset

Rear flyes (on an incline bench): 6kg x 15, 8kg x 12 (+2), 10kg x 6 (new weight)
Lateral raises: 6kg x 15, 8kg x 12, 10kg x 6

I swapped out the push-ups for laterals simply because I wanted to do more dips. Heh.
In retrospect, the 10kg (22lb) dbs felt a bit too heavy - I could have done with a 9kg really. There are some, but they’re in the cardio bunny gym. I ain’t walking all the way over there.

Dips:

12 (PR!), 9, 7

OK, so not doing push-ups first helped. Also, maybe losing some weight.

Superset:

Rope Pushdowns: 10kg x 15, 12.5kg x 12, 15kg x 10
Dumbell Curls: 6kg x 15, 8kg x 12, 10kg x 10

Didn’t do skull crushers today - didn’t want to stress my grumbly elbow. My body is very pissy right now. I guess it’s not impressed with the pounding I’ve given it during August. Tough shit.

Spin Class, 45 minutes.

Instructor worked us hard today. I appreciated it, actually.

Did some handstands after, then off to the weigh machine.

Height was 5’7.3 today. Must have been the handstands.
Weight: 10 st 12lbs (152lbs - 4 down from last week)
BF: 23% (down from 23.9% last week)

Alright, so the extra pounds last week were probably bloat. I am feeling a bit leaner this time after three low carb days. Progress is being made - let’s hope nothing major breaks and stops me in my tracks. I’m talking to you, lumbar spine.

High carb day today and I will be eating my chocolate tasting box. Oh yes.

Time off?? ahhh
I wish!

Enjoy your weekend… Maybe you’ll take Sunday off?

By time off I mean the weekend. I’m going to see Troll Hunter at the cinema tomorrow. Will still train first, though! I’m sure I’ll feel a lot better with today’s carbs sitting in my muscles.

And I meant, with kids of your own you never really get time off. It’s a mom thing

I don’t think I’ve head of this movie. Sounds like it would be about some weird internet thing. haha!

Here you go.

And yeah, it’s nice that I get to give the kids back at the end of the day. Heh.

took me a while to recover from my squats - so wouldn’t surprise me that you have been feeling a bit meh about training after that. especially since you are more low carb than me. hope you have a great weekend!
