last for now
These are absolutely amazing.
I just stumbled upon this thread and i hope this bump will make people start posting on here again, i like looking at this kind of stuff.

Wow, there is some really nice stuff on this thread. Great work everyone. I have a lot of respect for painters and other graphic artist types, mainly because I suck at it. But I am pretty good at building things. Here are a few pics of my work.
This one is a cherry hall console table, with a veneered compass point inlayed in the top.

A contemporary style Japanese writing desk. Height is 15". Woods are mahogany and maple. The inlayed in the top is symbol for the karate style I use to train.
Japanese dining table. Inlayed characters are of walnut, and translate to mean “Friendship”. Light wood is ash, main wood is reclaimed chestnut from old barn beams.
My neighbor passed away very suddenly last year, and her husband asked me to make an urn for her remains. Sides of the urn are Ash cut from her property, top is spalted maple.
This is a close up of the dragonfly inlay on the urn. Wings are end cut Oak, body is just some nice scrap I had. This was the first time trying “sand shading”. The pieces of inlay are placed in a container of hot sand to scorch the wood and give it some shadow.
last one for now. Every once in a while I just build something weird. Usually as a Christmas gift for my sister. This one is a moose or deer pelvic bone I found while camping and I instantly thought it would make a cool mask.
I wired on some steal teeth and put the thing on a stand. My wife did the copper and black paining. It is not the best photo, I should have used a less busy back ground.
Do you sell those? If so where? if not you should. that japanese desk is awesome.

My job requires me to edit conferences and training videos. So I stare at people standing at podiums all day long. This is what I drew on the back of an edit sheet while waiting for video to render.
Here’s some scratchboard work I’ve done.

And another
I drew this a few years back for a friend for her birthday. She really likes the kid from the Harry Potter movies. The hair sucks but I was getting bored with this picture by the time I was doing his hair so I really rushed it.
bigurukhai, those are incredible.
Please PM me about how you made the inlays… I’m working on a few ideas that I’d love to make a little more artistic.

I haven’t sold any furniture work in a while. I have been doing mostly kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities lately.
I have found custom furniture is a really tough market to make a good living at, especially in Canada. At least for me anyway. Probably need to work on my BS skills "This table symbolises the struggle between blah blah blah… "
It is a very small market of people who appreciate the workmanship enough to drop the dough. Eg. The japanese dining table and the writing desk were about $3500.00 each. Most people just go into Sears, or Walmart etc and pay $200 or less for whole dining room suite or something.
Once I have enough business coming in from kitchens, I can start to take some time to find a market for my furniture skills. In the mean time I need to eat!
Thanks for the compliments.
Heres some tattoo related stuff that I’ve done for customers and for fun…

Do you have a website? If not, mabey you should get one (and a google ad), and build your furniture to sell internationally.
