That GREAT man. I tell you it isd a blessing to seee a curator who actually has some talent and has taken the time to hone that talent in your position.
More than not curators, heads of Galleries and what not are clueless as to that side of it.
I imagine it give you a greater understanding and appreciation for the work as well
Once again Nice drawing.
I’m going to be sidetracked to Kansas for about a week so I will be stuck without paint, but We’ll see what I churn out in the way of drawing and I may try and do some more on a series of stone sculptures I have yet to finish.
Nothing to add today just bumping this up as to not lose it. It was going so well.
I am currently mis placed in Kansas. As for art well the last two days spent building a house and skid loader work. Today however I started on the last sculpture out of limestone for that series on my site. I hope to get it done before I leave here on Friday. Lil pressed on time but worth a go.
Allright you all gave up on me. The thread was going so well.
Anyway. I did it. Got the last peice done for the pond series of sculpture. I was able to beat it out, my forearms and hands may never forgive me.
All in all I am pleased with the series as a whole. The first works I have done that are site specific. They work with the site dont over whlem but also stand on their own.
I can of course see room for improvement and want to do more stone work when I can in various style. Just a bit hampered right now on space and time
Anyway, This one is a frog. ots about 24" X 24" roughly. HEAVY BASTARD
Agreed, I will try to bring some more visual life to this thread once I figure out how to resize my images. Just graduated from art school…
Nice work everybody.
I’m a lurker. Finally a thread where I have at least a little something to offer. I went to art school but just started painting again after years of inactivity. Hopefully I can get into grad school in the coming year.
Haven’t gone AWOL yet, currently working on a tat for my sister, nothing complicated, angel wings with my mothers name in the middle, Ill post it when im done, good work with the sculpture Phill!

Hey motherhood can be art in a way. Juggling all that stuff, actual objects and tasks, etc… Plus just being a good parent and sticking it out without going insane I imagine should be called art.
No reason top stop singing however. I wont to hear you whale out some Janis Joplinesque tunes. Some voice with Soul and passion. Sorry been feening for some Janis since hearing a piss poor remake a couple days ago.[/quote]
Actually, 911 Girl was a very talented jazz saxophone player. There are some valid reasons why she doesn’t spend a lot of time dwelling on that period of her life. (That’s all I’m saying on that topic.) There are some cool ways in which her inner artist exposes itself these days, and I think you touched on them pretty closely, Phill.

Not just sticking it out, but raising two girls who are bright, creative, inquisitive, and allowed to fully develop their own personalities without being stifled or forced to conform too early to some adult’s view of the world. That, at the very least, is a delicate balancing act, and to really excel at, I think, is an art.

Thanks for the compliment. Phill as you know art takes time. Time I am choosing to spend elsewhere right now. I won’t have two incredible children in my life forever. In the meantime, I enjoy music on a much deeper intellectual and emotional level than most.
I have many great loves in my life and if my life choices don’t allow me to explore them all to their full potential right now then I will just need to live longer than the average person:-)
Thanks Richie.
I’d never heard of La Tour. But I looked him up online, he’s fantastic. There’s a few of his paintings at the Getty here in LA, I’ll have to go check them out, hopefully they are on display. I need to go anyway to see that Rembrandt show before it’s gone.
Hey no problem and Now a days any one who actually put time into raising Children IMO is a rarity and deserves Much respect. Yes it is an art.
Also love the attitude you have. Hell yes. sometimes some things are just more important and others have to get shifted to the back burner for a bit. Just remember set aside and not forgotten.
Ok, I’ll throw something out there. I did this and a few others about 9 years ago. Found them in my old sketchbook. Sorry for the quality. I took a photo of it due to my broken scanner.
