That’s right, we are passing laws that tells you what you can do OUTSIDE Norway. Prostitution legal in Holland? No problem, we’ll make a law that says you can get prosecuted here when you get back. Smoked weed? Same thing… gah now I’m just rambling.

Ermm how the hell can they possibly implement such a policy? I mean if you’re banging a prossy legally, how’re they going to know when you get back? I’m assuming they have a plan?
Yeah that’s what I was thinking too, but that they have the gall to pass laws on what I can do outside our borders leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Even with no way of enforcing it.
#

that is one of the most ridiculous pieces of legislation i’ve ever heard! I’m sure Sweden will be quick to follow. This is exactly why i prefered spending my time in Denmark, much more liberal and reasonable. And i can completely understand why that would leave a bad taste, its principle. The audacity is incredible. I’m not even Norwegian or living in Norway but it bothers me…
Norwegians are sheep though for the most part, I’m sure worse laws will be passed in the future. lol

Everyone knows all the best Scandanavians came to Britain during the ‘Dark Ages’. Including my great, great grandpa Eric Bloodaxe. RIP.

I think the law is mainly to have a law to use against sextourist like the ones traveling to Thailand and various african countries for little boys and girls. Then you have the possibility to convict them if you can provide proof for it. Just had my norwegian lawfinals 2 days ago so guess i had to contribute.

Buuuut back to topic. I’m norwegian and feel very close to other nordic countries. Culturewise I don’t notice any big difference. Don’t really feel like I’m actually traveling abroad when I visit any nordic countries. Everything pretty much seems the same except the prices are lower everywhere else.

I’m from Norway

The reason all the girls in Britain is so ugly, and the hot ones are in scandinavia is because the vikings crossed the sea to steal all the hot chicks:P

Im assuming your from Norway,I was wondering if you answer me this. Sweden has been always been portrayed as a emasculating and feminine country, would you say Norway is that way too? BTW,I only met one girl from Norway, she was an exchange student here and she was a bitch.

Norway definitely falls under the same category as Sweden there. I feel our society here celebrates feminine values and degrade masculine values these days.

I see a lot of my friends married for a few years, have a kid or two then break up. Most of the guys I work with have an ex-wife and a few kids and are paying alimony etc. I feel couples have less reason to work through rough patches in their relationships, because women with young children get so much in alimony and wellfare(when single), and the guys are off the hook paying a alimony check that isn’t really that big.

But hey, for young people in the big cities in summer time? Young women are as much into casual sex as the guys are.

I think the situation with the single parent is the same as it is here in the states but the biggest difference is that your countries standards of living is higher than ours. Id love to visit a Scandinavian country but that’s not going to be anytime soon with the economy and all. Maybe next year. Anyway,I read in an article that people in Norway average 5’11 and women are 5’9,is that true? Thats pretty crazy.

I think Norway is the most beautiful country in the world, and would definitely recommend a visit. I guess you’re right though about the economy, it would make more sense for Norwegians to come to the US rather than the other way around. Don’t know about standard of living, surely the US can’t be far behind on that list. ( I haven’t been there yet, unfortunately.)

According to wikipedia, men here average 5’9, which sounds about right to me. I’m 5’8 myself, which is a bitch considering most every girl I’ve ever dated has been taller than me, despite the average height being 5’5 for women (again according to the web.)

Aftenposten had an article (in Norwegian) yesterday about masculinity and education in Norway. I thought it was quite good. I feel that some of the guys interviewed would come a long way if they just stopped being lazy and behaved more disciplined in school, but the whole part about the pussyfication of men and the lack of male role models fits with my view of todays society.

Norwegian girls rock in every way.

Beautiful, willing, open, under-loved, unfulfilled and surrounded by male pussies. Makes it easy for the rest of us.

True, guys who are in shape and with any kind of drive are in short supply.

How about getting to the REAL issue here. When are you going to start dominating strongman again?
The are some up and coming guys, but the field is fairly narrow. The Norway’s Strongest Man competition is actually today, so we’ll see

So, who here lives and trains in Oslo?

Where was that? I’m half Norwegian and last time I was there, around 5 years ago, I couldn’t find anything interesting. I’d say that 60% of girls above 20 years old were slighty overweight/totally overweight, while cold and distant. This was in a little town, so maybe it’s different in Oslo.

In comparison, now I live in another “nordic” (Eastern Europe actually) country and girls do feel like you said, beautiful (just very little amount of girls are overweight or totally unattractive), very open, confident and willing.

About the “pussyfication” of men, I think it’s like this in many countries. Right now where I live, most young men dress like…well, they are just missing the make-up. And from where I am from (I’m just very international), Alpha Male behaviour-like is ridiculed. I’m talking about a man wanting to be in charge or things like this.

Feminism is taking over.
Well I’m a pretty miserable Norwegian these days, but then again I have thyroid issues. lol

I think Norway is “new money,” and it shows. Bunch of farmers and fishermen that struck gold (oil), and are now struggling to cope with the niceties of civilized living. Made itself the retarded kid in school be giving a peace prize to the US President.

I get pissed off at how the country is run, not allowing the sale of decent supplements, setting dumbass restrictions on everything from what time of the day its safe to buy beer to passing legislation that forbids Norwegians to gamble or whatever, when they are abroad. That’s right, we are passing laws that tells you what you can do OUTSIDE Norway. Prostitution legal in Holland? No problem, we’ll make a law that says you can get prosecuted here when you get back. Smoked weed? Same thing… gah now I’m just rambling.

Don’t know much about Sweden aside from the fact that a lot of young swedes come here to work. I’d take a guess that unemployment is a bit high in Sweden these days, and that wages are higher in Norway anyway. Personally I’ve never gotten along with Swedes at work, they have all had sticks up their asses about rules and protocols down to the smallest insignificant thing. Leading me to believe Swedish people wear seatbelts when on the toilet :stuck_out_tongue:

I got laid the first and only night I spent in Iceland, so obviously Iceland rocks.

Greenland: See Iceland.

Finland has Patrick Antonius and saunas. And from what I gather tops the list this year when it comes to standard of living. I kind of separate Finland from the rest of these countries because of the unrelated language, I don’t think of it as Scandinavian.

As an aside, I hate the word Scandinavia. It makes me think of cheesy Eurovision contests.

Denmark: Good beer, good food, easy going people. Would go again.
I’m a Norwegian. I agree with most of these views. I’m especially annoyed at the supplement regulations. Contrary to you though all the Swedes I have worked have been awesome people, and to their credit they seem to have a work ethic that should make most Norwegians shameful. If they are schticlers (did I spell that correctly?) for unnecessary rules I can’t say I noticed.
I always felt more at home in Denmark than in Sweden when on vacation because of the laid back Danish culture (and their excellent and cheap beer), but I hardly recognize the value liberal Danish people anymore. Way too many people down there have turned into right wing bigots.
