Calling All MMA Fans

That said, Pride fans in Japan and european mma-fans seem to be more about the technical fights than our american counterparts.
Certainly. We only have to look to the technical wizardry of O’Hare v Butterbean, Giant Silva v Sentoryu, or the epic Zuluzinho v HW elite showcases. I’m sure Australia’s Sinosic enjoyed the showering of boos at the UFC’s recent venture into the UK.

Fans everywhere pay to see knockouts. The casual fan wants blood. The drunks in the crowd want a KO. It’s not an American phenomenon. Those quiet Japanese might enjoy a higher degree of pageantry–nevermind their support of matchmaking which will cripple their icons.

Yes, boxing is so much more civilized than MMA. In MMA, I have actually seen a guy bite a chunk out of another guy’s ear. Oh, wait, that was boxing.

Boxing has lacked any credibility long before MMA started gaining popularity. The average fan can’t name a famous boxer, yet many can name one of the UFC fighters. There hasn’t been a fighter most people would pay to see since Tyson, and that was because he was an uncivilized thug.

A boxing match is relatively boring, and a MMA match offers at least six bouts, four of which we are happy to have paid the price of the PPV to see.

What would you rather watch? The Contender, UK vrs. the US, or Ultimate Fighter 5? Even though 5 is the worst so far of any of the installments of The Ultimate Fighter, it is by far more entertaining than the contender.

I watched Gladiator last night. I guess I have become one of the “bloodthirsty” masses. When Maximus askes, “Are you not entertained?”, I had to pretty much say yes, can you cut off another poor schmuck’s head?

Lame article. Can’t take it too seriously really.
Sweet Jesus, AdamC. I didn’t take the article to seriously, but I surely took your avatar that way.

That looked a hell of a lot more interesting than boxing too.

this is some of the most ignorant shit I’ve ever heard in my life.

I wonder if he is aware that Oscar De Le Hoya was training with Diego Sanchez before his last “fight” with Koscheck.

That’s not a very good endorsement for De La Hoya’s coaching skills.
DLH brought in Diego to push him during cardio/GPP workouts, not as a sparring partner.
