I just read of your arrest (on the other thread). I have nothing to say that hasn’t been said already, but I wanted to give my support. I understand addiction all too well, it’s impossible to ever know what the “right” thing is to do. Stay strong and true to your intentions and you’ll both get through this.

X2 Been there. Done that.
I’m sorry to hear it came to blows and you got into trouble. At least now you may have leverage to force your brother into rehab.
The thing to do is tell the judge your brother is a crackhead who has been stealing from the family for a while. When your father confronted your brother about his stealing to support his drug habit he became violent. So you intervened to protect your father from your brothers crack induced violence.
I bet if you handle it properly with the court you will probably be able to get off without a record. A lawyer will be very helpful.
