I don’t train calves right now. I’m cutting right now though and I figure as weight drops, they’re gonna drop in size too if I don’t start hitting them.
I keep hearing that high reps and frequent training are needed to hit calves, but do low reps have a place here? And just how high are high reps?
I’ll be training calves on my 3 off days. The exercises I have to use are:
-standing calf raises on the Hammer Strength hack squat
-I can make a makeshift seated calf raise by putting 2 25s under my toes and using the lying leg curl.
Which of these should I incorporate and what kind of reps/sets should I be hitting?
Thanks.[/quote]
as you intend to hit them on your off days another suggestion would be to put on a weight jacket and try walking up a steep hill, preferably on a soft surface.guarrantee your calves will be smoked! will help with your cut too.
I am hating doing calfs on DC but loving the results, my calfs were not small to begin with but the increase after about 5 weeks has really suprised me.
Not enjoying doing them standing, too easy to slip.
Mine measure 18.5 right now (a number that will probably drop as I drop weight). They used to be like toothpicks…literally. I haven’t tried DC or stretching them but training them daily (for about 3-4 sets) as the first thing I do when I get to the gym has helped. They were just hitting 18 two years ago so half an inch in that time isn’t that bad.

Nothing has put size on my calves like DC. From tooth to chopsticks in a month.
