After reading Victor Conte’s article I took a look at all my supplements to see how many of them contained calcium. Turns out the majority of them do. According to Conte, Calcium damn near negates absorbtion of anything else, making most of my vitamin/mineral supplements toilet fodder. Anybody know a way around these, or a good place to buy supps not loaded with Calcium???
what supplements are you talking about?
Fish Oil, creatine, BCAA’s, glutamine, Spike, Power Drive, Alpha Male, Carbolin 19, TRIBEX, ZMA…
none of the those have calcium.
Now, if you are talking about protein powders, they’ll all have calcium because they derive the whey protein powders from cows’ milk
Just take all of your supplements you are worried about not being absorbed (like ZMA) an hour before your shakes.
most vitamins/supplements have calcium carbonate as “other ingredients” fillers getting to much can be bad. calcium phosphate as well. try to limit the amount of supplements with these fillers to avoid complications.
I was talking more about the vitamins/minerals than Biotest type supps. Just the daily stuff I take, B-12, Chromium, Selenium, Potassium, shit like that. I get all that stuff from our Commisary, but most of it has some type of calcium for the first or second ingredient. Is there a place online to buy this stuff that won’t have loads of calcium along with it??
This is interesting?I have to take Caltrate-D (doctor’s orders!) twice a day because otherwise my bone density drops and my knees feel like they’re full of gravel. And of course, I??m taking it at the same time (early morning, late night) I get my fish oil, multivitamin, and glucosamine/chondroitin. Should I switch to taking the calcium during the day with lunch to minimize interference?
