any negatives or drawbacks to having coffee a couple hours after a workout? my goal right now is gaining muscle so maybe cortisol issues? sometimes when I workout at 5 or 6 in the morning I’ll have a coffee or two at work a couple hours later
The impact of a coffee on muscle gain would be measured in grams at most
I’m not very knowledgeable on this- does caffeine impact muscle gain in a significant way? I am a caffeine abuser, through and through.
I guess my question is, is there a point where it could make a noticable impact?
I was drinking 10 cups of coffee a day along with 2 energy drinks (one having 350mg of caffeine, the other 200-300). I imagine whatever amount you could consume that could impact muscle gain will primarily do that because it will kill you, and dying is VERY catabolic.
Lol that was the response I was expecting.
I thought I had read somewhere about not consuming caffeine after a hard workout but I may be mistaken . . appreciate the responses
I work nights, so I have been doing this for almost a decade.
You’re not I’ve read similar things, I don’t think anyone here is disputing or doubting that (from memory I think cortisol is the issue) but the main thrust of the point is that things like this aren’t going to have any real measurable impact on real life results, it’s a majoring in the minors things.
I figured as much . . I appreciate it
I searched around a little.
A couple blurbs from 5+ years ago said that it was bad. And mentioned the caffeine spiking cortisol and norepinephrine.
More recent info said post workout caffeine was awesome, and it helps your muscles take up glucose faster post workout. Eggheads say this makes you less sore and you recover faster.
