Business Degree - Business Math?

This isn’t a troll job. I’m thinking of switching majors and was thinking about business ademin. My question is how hard is business math, I suck at geometry and algebra so… Thanks for any help.

i wouldnt worry about the math, id focus on spelling your new major correctly. i believe its business admin. im just kidding. im a senior and i have takin “business math” which im sure varies from university to university. I’m not the greatest mathmatician, but i made it fine and im sure you can do it if you put your mind to it. sometimes you need to be willing to ask your professor for a little help outside of class. this can help him or her give you a bump if you are in a tight pinch and they see that you put the work in.

Lol.

Or get a tutor to help you. Then again, if the tutor doesn’t help you get better grades, then you weren’t meant to be crunching numbers in the first place, and need to switch majors again.

Ha. Apparently, you’re not a mathematician, or the greatest with your spelling either!

Algebra? Seriously?

I have a business degree. We were required to take 4 semesters of statistics, decision models/programming, finance, accounting, and supply chain/process management classes. You use algebra in all of those. I’m pretty sure it qualifies as a basic skill. Brush up on your math and stop picking your major based on how easy or difficult it is. If you’re in college to dick around, quit now and stop wasting your parent’s money.

This.

OP: If you enjoy math but aren’t good at it, sack up and study/practice until you ARE good. Despite what many will have you believe, intelligence is not an inherited trait, it is a learned one. Now, if you don’t like math and still want to go into a math related field, that’s a different story entirely.

LOL. That is the best advice in the thread, and you tell him to go away?

Priceless…

If you can’t handle algebra, you won’t be able to pass business math.

Business math classes aren’t too bad compared to the ones you would take for engineering or physics, but they at least cover the fundamentals of statistics and (I believe) calculus. Both of which are a bit beyond basic algebra.

I’ve taken business math in highschool which was easy as hell, is high school business math pretty close to what you do in college?

I have a business degree and I found the business math in university to be pretty easy. I took calculus is high school as well as my first year in of university, but found business math to be much easier than those. Surely it is not “easy as hell” as your high school business math was, but it certainly is a watered down math course. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Thank you

I also had to take two semesters of basic calculus for my degree. You won’t get far at a real college in any major if you “pretty much suck at algebra and geometry”. Those are classes that you take in high school for a reason.

By “not being helpful” did you actually mean “not telling me what I wanted to hear”?

No its the dick way you go about it.

Basically if you can count all your fingers, you can do business math.

I dunno, I took Business Calculus and it wasn’t too bad. Granted, I didn’t study for it like I did for some of my science courses. Then again, I hadn’t taken a math course in 4 years; I think this is the reason it was kinda tough.

Toughen up, Nancy.
