OK, I know that your body burns carbs first then fats. I also know that a carbohydrate has 4 calories, and a gram of fat has 9 calories. Does this mean that burning 4 calories is equal to burning one carbohydrate? And if you don’t have any carbs to burn, then burning 9 calories is equal to burning one gram of fat? Am I right about this?
Well essentially but your body aint that simple. it doesnt Just burn up all carbs and then once those are gone burn all fats etc. It burns first what is ion excess and whats needed. fats are a very readily available source of energy, carbs are needed for other functions like the brain etc, so nyou are burning from a variety of sources at once even protein.
Say your on a hugely carb restricted diet and a hypocaloric one, you decide to do some intense exercise without eating more than likely your going to catabolise some muscle to fill the energy expendature needs.
In a sense though yes if yopu burn 4 cals it could have been 1 carb or if you burn 9 it could have been one fat. More liely it is a mix.
