I saw this article by Bill Starr and thought of what you wrote.
This has really become the thinking man’s log as of late.

I don’t know if I’ll ever be man enough to use 100lb plates.

Congrats on the loose belt. If that belt is an Inzer then a dime works very well (found this out at the gym, luckily I had some change in my bag).
Nice additions.

Unfortunately its a Toro. So I have to dig out a Philips head screwdriver.

Well like I said I wanted to at least improve the actual content of this log.

Thank God your in law enforcement and not a accountant ![]()

I totally agree about the important part being the actual lifting and not the program itself. Almost everyone will make gains even if they don’t follow a particular template if they are consistant about lifting something.
I love the 100lb plates. [/quote]
Yeah ,I think the majority of people get the concept of consistency. Problem is when you bring up the time factor. Then people tend to lose there mind and try to find the perfect program to speed the process up.
Thank you, I was shocked the wife didnt blow her top.

There my new babies. I just need a name for them. Maybe Bitch and Heavy Basterd. Because I had to lug them out of the guys basement up a flight of stairs.

Thanks. I don’t know about the good man part. Sometimes my wife refers to me as the old asshole.

2/20/11
Warm up : Yep
Bench: Bar x 20
95 x 10
135 x 5
160 x 5
200 x 4
240 x 3
275 x 2
330 x 1
280 x 14
Incline bench : 225 x 10/ 225 x 7…Last set I was fried
Seated DB press: 2 x 8 x 80…Damn, its been awhile, OK Ive had to make a heart wrenching decision. As much as I love Mpresses , i have to accept that there not actually that beneficial for my actual shoulders. Because , I’m very triceps dominate in the movement. Plus the DB allow me more range of movement. ![]()
Tate press: 2 x 12 x SW …My triceps where fried at this point.
OK, Here’s the deal. As Ive stated Ive become aware of Paul Carter. I’m using a template he has used…Now before you guys rip my ass and call me a hypocrite. Now hear me out!! As Ive told MattyXL I believe Carter is my brother from another mother. I just haven’t conformed it yet with my old man. He uses a 5/4/3/2/1 progression on most of his lifts with a back off set for reps. Which oddly enough is the same damn thing I used during my " golden period" The only difference is he uses % for the progression. Not to mention most of his philosophy mirrors my own. The above routine is something I have done 20 years ago just with a tad less volume. As I tittled my last Bulldog edition. Ive come full circle because my most productive training approach has been validate by someone else. It just taken a few years since Ive been back at it.
Just wanted to give you some props, this is my favorite log to read. You post some great stuff in here.

Matt, I’ve met the Dog, and he’s a fun guy in person as well.

So my advice is this. If you’re doing something and it’s reasonable and it working and working well. Just keep doing it.

This here, is the BIG SECRET. Training ADD will drive a guy crazy.
Lots of good stuff in here lately, dude!
Just catching up. Last installment was great. No way to underestimate the importance of consistency. I’ve been training along time 30 plus years, I love it. Consistency, discipline, patience and pain tolerance have been the keys to my success. No matter how great a program youre on, if you don’t have that inner drive to train and train hard for years your not gonna get big!

“Frank, I’m not just a sex object! I have a mind! I have a brain!”
“Of course you do, Margaret! Let me kiss your brain!”

Cav, you might want to clarify what you meant by " fun guy" with some of the degenerates that probably read this log.
