Eat more carbs and get the fuck off Excel.
OP,
Aren’t you a financial analyst? Doesn’t that involve a lot of spreadsheets? When you come home at night, one of the ways you get your mind off of work is…more spreadsheets?
The main difference between my bulk and normal diets is a shit load of milk and beef.
Milk is designed for growth, buy whole and drink a lot of it.
tone down the cardio. I don’t see why this thread needs 22 posts.
If you can’t gain weight in the first place, you have no business worrying about macronutrient breakdowns.
You need to crawl before you can run.

6k is probably overkill. Increase it by 500 at a time and see what results you get.
Glad to hear that, I had no idea how I was going to eat 6K per day.

Maybe you should mellow out on the cardio a bit. What kind are you doing?
I am doing 40 min on a crosstrainer 3 times a week first thing in the morning with 2 scoups of Metabolic Drive in me first.
I am doing the cardio for the cardiovascular benefits, and really don’t want to give it up. I’d rather just eat more to offset the calories burned by the cardio.

Very interesting point. I view it as my sport. I never had any athletic grace for anything involving a ball, or balance or coordination, so this is just what I do and I do enjoy it. The eating is a chore though. How long does it take to get used to eating when you’re not even hungry?

Maybe you’re burning up all of these calories in your brain just thinking about all this. Eat more carbs, too.
LMFAO
By the last meal of today I will have taken in 4032 calories, 421g protein, 357g carb (not counting leafy green) & 102g fat. 42% prot, 35% carb, 23% fat.

#1 Sure.
#2 Never! Otherwise they’d stop paying me and that would be bad.

All day every day man.
It’s just how I organize shit.

if you are looking for some easy calories, start adding some olive oil/nut oil/cream etc to your protein drinks. don’t be scared of fat.
In addition to all of these people telling you to EAT MORE (which you should), don’t forget to:
SLEEP MORE!
Aim for 9 hours, more if possible.
Make sure you sleep in multiples of 1.5 hours so you reap the benefits of GH release.
7.5 hours at night + 1.5 hours after work = 9 hours.
Also, as alit4 said, adding fats to your shakes and meals such as coconut oil, olive oil, peanut butter, nut butters and oils, seed oils, and… cream (although more than 2/3 of estrogen/progesterone in dairy is in the fat).
Really, I don’t understand how people can be paranoid about soy, but go ahead to recommend people drink cream. Cream is full of bovine estrogen.

didn’t know that. good to learn something new from this board.
/end hijack.
I’d cut down on the cardio and add in another 500 calories per day.
Then reassess after 2 weeks.
I didn’t gain any weight at 4,000 cals/day either and was like WTF, figured it was enough. It wasn’t. Increased to 4500 cals/day then I was gaining 1 lb/wk.
In addtition to all the good points made here remember “it’s not how much you eat it’s how much your body assimilates!” In the old days we drank papya and pineapple juice to help protein and starch digestion. Nowadays you have enzyme pills etc.

I was going to ask you about your diet, macro breakdown and all that shit, but sounds like folks here don’t buy into it that much. Strange considering the number of nutrition articles posted in the Supplements & Nutrition forum.
I accept the fact that I have over complicated this, and will dumb it down.

Things like that are important and are discussed, but only after you get the basics down.
It’s not much use worrying about your vitamin C intake when your calories are not right. You seem to have things like macros figured out, but just needed to be reminded of some basic stuff.
Are you a hard gainer? I can’t see how you are not putting on any weight.
I did my first attempt of a bulk and I put on 5kg over a four week period. However, I believe most of this was over the 2 week festive season break where I slept ridiculous amount - up to 12 hours per day.
It’s not rocket science. Here’s what I did:
-
5 times a week in the gym at high intensity. If I don’t need to lie down after a set, I’m not doing it hard enough
-
Eat everything in the fridge. I don’t count whether it comes from carbs, fat or protein, I just ate everything and when I ran out, I went out to eat
-
If you like coffee, have lattes and drink milk (was drinking more than a litre a day)
-
Supplement with protein shakes (average 3 per day). Always morning, PWO and before bed. Plus whenever I felt like it.
-
Sleep. I slept for 2 hours after each workout and every afternoon. Then I would sleep for 10-12 hours in the night.
Hope you have better luck going forward. Like may have said, fuck Excel. Just eat, lift and sleep plenty.
Check your nutrition, your training, your rest and add some supplements. I wouldn’t listen to advice like Aleeboy’s, there are many factors above that turn a bulking attempt into a fatty success. For what you say there must be something wrong; find it as fast as you can and get rid of it.

I have to disagree with that much sleep, at least for people if they have a hard time eating a lot of quality food. Being awake longer allows you more time to eat more food, to a certain extent obviously.
