Built My Own Prowler

I have not seen the econo prowler in action.

I can’t imagine it being that sturdy.

I’m having mechanical drawings of mine made as we speak.

I own the econo prowler. I bought it when elitefts was selling them for 315 bucks, so I ordered it from Williams Strength directly for 250.

If you tighten everything down, the sled is sturdy. I throw it on concrete, grass, etc, load it up w/ plates, push it, pull it. I’ve had absolutely no issues with it. VERY SOLID.

Nice work on your home built prowler btw. Very creative. I wish I could have built mine.

Cool thanks - got a few other questions if you dont mind me asking:

1)when you say tighten everything down how many pieces need to be bolted together?

  1. how much weight have you had on it?

  2. how high does the bottom handle come up? the reason I ask is because I need to put in the back of my car to take it to a park and I just want to make sure I can fit it in the back with the seats down.

Thanks again

  1. You tighten 1 part w/ two bolts. You basically connect the vertical part of the “T” to the horizontal part.

  2. I’ve had 140 lbs ( 45 & 25 on each side) on grass and I could barely move it. I’ve used it on concrete, but prefer how hard it is to push it on grass. I usually push it w/ no weight. It just destroys my legs. I also have a long rope attached to the front to pull it a la a strong man pull, like the semi pull.

You don’t need much weight on it to get a good workout. Its not easy. And cut your grass before using it. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.

  1. I’ll measure it this weekend when I have some free time and I’ll let u know. If you have a truck, you’re set. A car will be harder to fit it into. If you have a really deep trunk, I think it would fit. The same goes w/ a back seat. you’re not fitting this in a two seater.

I hope this helps.

That was really helpful actually thanks. Yeah I have a four door car but I was going to put in the trunk and take the back seats down to push it through and give it more room. Obviously I will take the poles out before loading it. Just wanted to make sure he bottom handles weren’t really high or anything.

Here’s mine. I didn’t build it, I bought it. I just got it and I don’t have the push poles yet.

perfect. looks good.

I’ll have mechanical drawings next week so people can build there own.

I would change mine and make the skids bigger so you could push it on grass easier

lets bring this thread back to life, because i would love to see these mechanical drawings.

i have money for the prowler but if i had plans i know i could build my own. im just not to versed in the whole support system and such and i know i’d build something that would fall apart. anyways if you could throw up your plans that would be awesome

Ya agreed, id love to have a look at the mechanical drawings too if you could PM them that would be unbelievable!

Yeah I want to make one so I can basically

Guys,

I have sold the rights or my rights to this sled to Velocity sports performance. They are going to market it and sell it. In our contract it says I can’t sell or make anymore for profit.

Just look at mine and wing it. That’s what I did looking at the prowler.

just make the pads 7-8" wide
