Building Immunity to Foodborne Illnesses

Do you think it’s possible? I am very lax on refrigeration, and proper cooking temperature. Yesterday I ate ground beef that I ate left out over night by accident for 14 hours. I think some of the stuff I eat would make others sick, but I never do.

no you cant. Be carefull some food bourn illness is due to bacteria and viruses and some due to the toxins they produce. It can be VERY serious and i mean your digestive tract will never fully recover from it. If you leave something out for too long and then cook it, you may kill the bacteria and viruses but some types of bacteria produce toxins as a metabolic by product, these are not destroyed by cooking.

Are you that hard up for 2 dollars worth of beef that you would risk your health? Food poisoning is no joke, it will take you out of commission for days.

DO. NOT. DO. IT. If you want a vivid description, read the last fews posts of my thread The Dark Side, in the steroid forum. Baaaaad news. I thought it would never happen to me, either. My case was mild and I would still never wish it on anyone.

I was watching Wife Swap and there was a family that ate raw foods all the time… It was weird. They did it under the thinking that when the apocalypse happens and apparently we can’t make fire anymore, their children will have super strong immune systems. They ate raw chicken, beef, pork. It was gross.

And they were wackos.

When I was in Spain a few years back I got a nasty virus from the food and lost 18 pounds in 3 days. I was only 170 pounds to begin with (with very low bf) and on the third day it looked like I just got released from a concentration camp. No sleep, constant puking and diarrhea, not being able to hold down crackers or even water if I drank too much, was pretty damn unpleasant. Cook your food.

How does one lose the ability to start a fire?

If you can’t build up an immunity, then how was Rambo trained “to eat things that would make a billy goat puke.”?
