Just kijiji’d 205 lbs of olympic weights a bar and clips for 200 dollaz. I also have industrial foam pads to drop the weights onto. So far so good.
Found a retail outlet around where I like that sells weights for 0.88 per lbs. So now I just have to add more plates to the collection and get the power rack materials bought.
Good bye stupid gyms and retards hogging up the equipment.
Also have a friend that works a farm equipment dealership that gets big ass chains …woot …insider pricing yesssss!!
Anyone used these?
I’m either gonna build some or buy these. I tried to load up 45#'ers on my DB handles and walk them. Those plates were torture rubbing against my legs.
I’ve checked the smaller farm equipment places. Theres got to be some bigger chains somewhere, I live in Texas for Petes sake
This might be a dumb question, but have you checked local hardware stores? There was actually a kid in the country club I train at on Saturday thought brought his own chains [no shit]. Said he plays football at Milsapps [sp?] in Mississippi and he got 'em at a small hardware store.
yeah…bought some 3/8ths at local stores…they’re good for 6#'s per 5ft length
Just picked up a set of 90lb db’s and pairs of 45lb and 25lb bumpers from the ProMaxima warehouse. Paid $360 after taxes, which while pretty steep is still a killer deal. They sold me the db’s at $.70 a lb which is the cheapest I could find online and I avoided shipping. Just drpped 'em off at the gym. My knees are feeling a bit better so I’m gonna do some cleans and squats tonight. While there I’ll take some pics of the set-up and post 'em.
Thought about it and came to the conclusion there’s no need for me to post pics of bumpers and db’s. Y’all know what they look like, haha. If anyone in this thread’s in Houston or surrounding areas y’all have to check out the ProMaxima warehouse. Made the deal in an office but walked around the warehouse and it was BADASS. They make just about everything on site. It’s basically a community of giant warehouses where one warehouse is giant welding equipment, one is for housing the training equipment, etc… They also have bands, chains, flat and adjustable benches that are 12"[powerlifting standards] for less than $250 where most sites they’re $400+, all kinds of shit. I bought my adjustable bench [which I do like] for 2-hundo and am now kicking myself in the ass 'cause I coulda spent $50 more including tax and walked away with a competition quality bench. Anyway, y’all check it out if you’re here. It’s well worth it.
Alright y’all, if any of you are in or around Houston jump on this deal. Found a guy on Craigslist that’s selling brand new hex db’s for $.30 a lb. He’s got some weird selections, but I’m picking up pairs of 95’s, 100’s [if they have 'em], 105’s and 115’s. I’m getting 'em tomorrow morning for $269.54 after tax. That’s $800+ worth of db’s for $270. Don’t know how limited his stock is, so get on it!!!

That’s a sick deal, I usually jump on anything lower than .50/pound.
Those non hex dumbbells he’s got in the picture suck balls.

Haha, yeah. He’s changed the add since I replied earlier, 'cause there were no pics or mention of weight/different style db’s. Think I mentioned the one guy that was selling db’s from 3lbs up to like 140’s or something for $550 about a month ago. Other than that this is the only guy I’ve seen with db’s under $.60 a lb. I feel like a goon 'cause I just paid $.70/lb for a pair of 90’s on Saturday. Either way I’m all over this. He’s gonna call me in the morning to let me know if he has the hundos. He said he for sure doesn’t have 110’s. If he has the 120’s I’ma pick them up too. This score will put me within a few sets of db’s from where I want to be.

Economical Dip/Push-Up unit
Got some 95’s, 105’s and 115’s yesterday for $204.60 after tax. Have been trying to post pics, but just got my iphone and am apparently not smart enough to figure it out. Take some more later. Told the guy I would link his add again, so here goes-

He jumped the price from $.30 to $.50/lb, but it’s still a killer deal, and I got mine at $,30/lb so no skin off my back, haha. ID, those pics are awesome. My set-ups looking more and more like a real weightroom by the week. Picking up some more 4x6 mats either today [if my buddy will call me back so I can steal his truck] or tomorrow. I’ll put up pics once it’s “settled”. Ya’ll be easy.
