Also pricing chains but I can’t find any really thick link chains around here.

no doubt, I’m having some issues finding chains too…been stacking 5/8ths chain up. 5ft links are good for about 6#'s. I refuse to believe that I cant get any bigger locally. I’ll try a few more places and if I cant find any, order from EFTS. Home gyms with real equipment, not a “home gym”, are the best way to work out. I’ll never go back to a commercial gym.

Where in Texas are you? Don’t quote me on this but I’m pretty sure that tractor supply co’s carry heavy duty chains. Oh yeah, I’m in the process of getting bumper plates, the heavier db’s and another bar. Should have 'em by the end of the week. The set up’s starting to come along. Thanks again for all ya’lls help.
hey WhiteFlash, what size steel box did you use for the power cage? i’ve just designed my own and i’m using 2" box. i also finaly found a shop in england which sells fat bars oly sets and fat grip dumbells. just set myself a budget of £600 to buy and build it all. still going to be basic tho. just a power cage bars and bench with some dumbell handles

Central - Waco - I’ve tried there and the heaviest I can get is 5/8ths. Harbor Freight and tool is next.

Not sure I understand your question. There was no steel box. We used 3x3 steel tubing. I honestly can’t remember the length, but I think it was 4 20’ pieces. My boy’s a welder and he took it from there. I don’t remember the specs off hand but I’ll re-measure and get them to you tomorrow. I know it’s 8 1/2’ tall. Have you built your rack yet? I’d like to check out the pics if you’ve got 'em.
no not nuild it yet, i need to get the designs finished so i can make a bill of materials. i’m also at uni so i dont have access to my dads welding stuff. its looking pretty similar to yours except i have to sacrifice some height because its going in my basement. fortunately im not that tall so i dont think i’ll lose any ROM inside it.
sorry about the confusion, in england we call steel tubing steel box section, for us steel tubing is cylindrical, where you’ve used 3x3 i might be using 2x2 to save on costs but i need to see if it’ll fail using stress testing (the advantages of being an engineer at uni :P)

when its finished i’ll definitely load up pics.
Man, I would go with the 3x3. For the raw materials it was $261 and change, US. Here’s the “blueprint” we followed to build our rack-

Thanks man. I’m lucky in that my boy’s letting me use his warehouse space. If I were in a home garage things would be pretty cramped, but still doable. Good luck for the future gym.

Hope you’re on the first floor…
Nope but you can take a 2x4 and hit the ceiling and it does not make a sound. the only thing that carries is bass from tunes and I have rocked out and nobody says shit to me.

How thick are you trying to go?
a inch or bigger (5ft length is like 30#'s)…I’d eventually like to need an anchor chain. Each link is 60#'s, but for now an inch will do. Or about 4 more 5/8ths lengths.
Just kijiji’d 205 lbs of olympic weights a bar and clips for 200 dollaz. I also have industrial foam pads to drop the weights onto. So far so good.
Found a retail outlet around where I like that sells weights for 0.88 per lbs. So now I just have to add more plates to the collection and get the power rack materials bought.
Good bye stupid gyms and retards hogging up the equipment.
Also have a friend that works a farm equipment dealership that gets big ass chains …woot …insider pricing yesssss!!

Anyone used these?
I’m either gonna build some or buy these. I tried to load up 45#'ers on my DB handles and walk them. Those plates were torture rubbing against my legs.
I’ve checked the smaller farm equipment places. Theres got to be some bigger chains somewhere, I live in Texas for Petes sake

I watched guys that do strong man comps use those at my old gym. They work but they eventually bend under extreme load. Like full plate load.
I haven’t yet but am gonna check out promaximas warehouse either today or tomorrow. That is a sweet deal though, so if I can’t get better at the warehouse then I’m all over it. Thanks man.
