Ahh, thought you were lifting with your boy. Dude, 270 for 10 is pretty strong. You’re your own worst critic brother. You’re stronger and in better shape than you give yourself credit for.
Greg - I’m using 315 for my training max. What are you using? I know I’m good for more, prob in the neighborhood of 350, but Wendler recommends (for obvious reasons) that you use something 10%~ lower. 315 is a weight I feel very very confident I could smoke any day, any time, so I’ll start conservatively and go from there. Yeah, reps were touch and go.
WhiteFlash - thanks man. I know I’m harsh on myself, but you have to consider that 2 years ago (!!!), I was putting up comparable numbers, even though I weighed somewhere in the 215-220 ballpark. If you look at my old youtube videos there is a video from 9/2009 that is kind of embarrassing for me to watch, but I bench 275x9+1 (with shitty ass form). Still.
And not that 270x10 is horrible. Like I said, my goal was to get 10 reps. I thought about it all day, envisioned the set, and came ready to bring the noise. Was very happy that I got it. It’s hard to swallow your ego and really accept that you are significantly weaker than you used to be. But I look the best I ever have, and I will figure out how to get stronger without becoming a fat mess. Thanks for the support. Bench videos soon.

I’m pretty excited for leg day tomorrow. I’m gonna squat relatively fresh, which I haven’t done in awhile, go for a heavy 3-5, see where I’m at. I’m not jumping on the 5/3/1 for squat yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what I end up doing. Definitely going to give it a go for shoulder press as well.

That aside, I have just hopped ship onto 5/3/1 for the last coupla months. I have a PL meet on the 10th and I think the gains between my last meet (2ish months ago) are impressive.
Dude, I feel you. I guess probably 4 years ago now I was taking a pro-hormone, was a shade under 190, benched 315 for a deuce and was overall much bigger and stronger. But, the amount of food I was having to put down just to maintain let alone gain SUCKED, I felt tired all the time and my body started to slowly break down. Not sure how old you are now [I’m 29], but the older I get the more I enjoy being lean, strong and feeling good, as opposed to just being big. And, 270x10 is strong as shit. Just from that alone I’m guessing your max is between 335 and 350. Good shit in here man.

Yeah, I’m guessing I’m good for something between 335 and 350. Hopefully by systematically picking away at the beloved bench press, I’ll end up well north of there.

Dude, I’ll tell anyone who’ll listen how awesome I was, haha. Man, I’m only 172lbs right now and pause maxed at 245 on Monday. I’m guessing touch and go I’m good for 260-265 right now. I’ve had some gnarley knee injuries so I’m content staying anywhere below 180 [where my body feels best] and getting back up to a 3 plate bench. My goals are to dunk with 2 hands from a standstill again [at 5’9"], dunk in traffic again, bench 3 plates, box squat 5-hundo+ and just be lean, strong and look and feel good. I have a log here broham.
From looking at you, it looks like you could handle some more mass to me as well, but you’re pretty damn deezed as is. With another 15lbs at your current bf levels you’d be a fucking tank. You’d also be manhandling 4 plates, no questions asked.

The amount I miss in like two days of being AFK… lol. Awesome video and sick rack pulling, I wouldn’t mind seeing what I can put up for a few on a rack pull as it would be nice to hit up 5PPS just for teh egos (and back width… I guess). Bench session is pretty damn awesome too, good luck with getting back to roughly your strongest pressing numbers, I’m sure you can manage it. Anywho, to answer the question in my log…
Mondays are heavy bench, just playing around with and rotating through various heavy bench variations, followed by tris, chest, and shoulders.
Tuesdays are deadlift and hamstrings, the deadlifts are preset weight each week (using the coan phillipi deadlift plan).
Wednesday is back and biceps, generally high rep since I just pulled the day before.
Thursday is chest shoulders and tris with an emphasis on hypertrophy and shoulder rehab/prehab.
Friday is squats and quads, right now doing box squats against bands, with leg press etc afterwards.
Saturday is back and biceps, generally a little heavier weights/lower reps.
Sunday is Sunday Funday cardio, or completely off, depending on how I am feeling.
Dasher - that’s pretty cool you’re doing a PL meet. We’ll need vids… meet vids, training vids, etc, so we can make sure that your, uh, squat is deep enough.
greg - oh nice man. If you use 315 as your max then we will really have some competition ;). Could be fun, Mr. Headband! god benching 405 again would feel great. Would love to do it sometime this year, but that might be pushing it.
Ink - yeah, train them mofos. I train mine as often as I have time for (at least 3 times a week), and still no dice. you might have better luck though.
hlss - yes i did! and like i’ve said many times, i’d rather be sexy then a chubster putting up big numbers, BUT even better would be to have both.
Jake - welcome back mate! you’re right, the gap should be closed, but i’m gonna do everything in my power to not let that happen.
