Bug: Killin It

Bug- I’m assuming that you are getting your Meadows routines off of his articles on here? You may know this already, but if you want to do some more of his stuff you could check out the stuff that he has Shelby and Dave Tate doing…Dave has been writing down his entire workouts from John in his log at Elite during the last month or two.

Ok, today was meadows back. again, insane.

Warmup

Meadows rows (video and explanation in the article. basically doing One-armed rows on the t-bar machine)
45lbs x 12 wamup
65lbs x 8 w/u
90lbs x 10, 10, 10 (jesus that shit hits that lower lat insertion soo nice)

Deadstop DB rows (shit is KILLER. that explosive drive off the ground raped my back, and having to keep abs tight on these first two exercises cant hurt either. was having to lay down on a flat bench between sets to ease the pump)
100 x 8 w/u
135 x 8, 8, 8 (wow)

“Stretchers” (check the article)
70lbs x 10 w/u
90lbs x 12, 12 (really intense lat stretch and squeeze)

Partial lat pulldowns (slightly wider than shoulder width grip)
180lbs x 8
200lbs x 8 100lbs x 8 (wow)

stretch lats a lot omgomg

Seated chest-supported row (some cybex machine i’ve never tried
4 plates (2 per side) x 10, 10, 10

DB shrugs w/ a 3second hold (so painful)
85’s x 12, 12
100’s x 12, 12 (will be able to go up in weight next week for sure)

One-armed DB curls
30 x 10, 10, 10 (got this from some tall-ass superhvy NPC dude… jeff long maybe?)

Barbell curls w/ 3sec negative (holy shit lol)
65lbs x maybe 12 reps? longest set of my life

Aphamos saw me today at the end of my sesh and said what’s up. Sorry if I seemed a bit curt, I was just surprised haha.

Meadows inspired chest + tris. Very different approach than what I’ve tried before. Weights were very low, but intensity was high. Not used to so much volume and the pump from the beginning was very naice.

Incline DB “press and twists” (deep stretch, explode up and twist at the top of the motion, contracting chest hard)
30’s x 10
45’s x 10
60’s x 10
75’s x 10, 10, 10 (last 2 sets were really hard haha… should be able to do at least 80’s next week)

Flat bench w/ a true 2-second negative (very different animal haha)
135 x 8 (not even that easy haha)
185 x 8
working sets:
235x8
255x8
275x7+1 (needed some major help on last rep haha)
I hope to be a bit more used to this set up next week and significantly stronger. Shit raped me tho

Machine press (some cybex selectorized thing) (10 reps, + 10 stretcher rep thingies)
250 x 10 + 10 (too heavy haha)

230 x 10 drop weight +10 stretchers Chest annihilation.

Dips (decided to apply Meadows principles and do 2-second negatives. Made it MUCHHH harder hahah. god i suck)

played with palm positioning to make them harder
2 sets with 25’s. Called it a day.

Again, really happy with how the workouts are going. Like ebomb and some other dudes from the old BOI, I’m gonna try out the pulse feasting stuff when I start dieting . And after looking at pics of myself that I took last night, I’m feeling kinda fat, so I might start the diet, or at least cleaning shit up, next week. I’m ready to look good again!

When he was here, we both inclined like 315 x 3 or 4 or something.

Now he inclined like 405. not even kidding. in less than 2 months he got there.

back on track - bug, did you notice any of the shoulder discomfort a lot of ppl have been talking about by doing the ‘twist and press’ chest movement? do you think it’s a technique issue or to much weight or what?

I kept those twisties light to feel out the motion and not stress my shoulders too bad. I’m sure people are going too heavy if they are feeling a lot of shoulder discomfort/pain.

Meadows legs today. shit was brutal. Still having lower back/IT band issues (seems to flare up as soon as my lowerback starts getting pumped… only the left side, feel this pain in my left quad/IT band right above the left knee. prob should see a professional). I worked through it the best I could but I had to cut the squats early b/c of the pain. that LB pump is tough to make go away once it starts.

Lots of foamrolling, stretching, mobility shit.

SLDLs w/ 3 sec negative (using 25’s to get better stretch. LB was already pumped by end of leg curls FML. Couldnt push these too hard for obvious reasons)

195 x 10, 10 (starting to hurt too bad, gets hard to stand)

Did some intense massaging of the problem area around my knee to loosen it up a little, some leg swings and mobility stuff.

Leg press w/ 3sec negative (much better performance on these than last week)

Squats (TUT focus - like i said, had to cut these short. I was foam rolling before starting, and between warmup sets lol. after my first workset though, I knew I had to cut it. also was hard to keep form tight with all the pain)

Good session, esp considering my issues Im working around. Much needed rest day tomorrow. Chest and back and arms are sore as shit.
