Why are you using Humapro? I noticed Way is using it as well. Is it just to get protein w/out calories, and if so, why would Way be using it?

hlss - it’s a good product? it’s not really about whether it doesn’t have calories or not (I’m "maintainagainin’ ", so I want some calories). Our buddy did an experiment where his only protein source for a month was humapro and he maintaind strength, maybe got leaner, had great workouts.

I actually used/loved Humapro. It practically has no calories, so when I was dropping weight/leaning out, I used it. Basically, I followed Leangains style IFing, but ‘pulsed’ with Humapro during the day (before the feast) to satisfy my hunger and get a bunch of protein.

I didn’t believe that it was almost calorie free, so I emailed one of the dudes from their site, and he told me that since Humapro is only Essential Amino Acids, it has only trace calories. Usually protein has 4 kcals/gram, but humapro doesn’t. And he said that it’s not comparable to regular protein, but as a ‘ballpark’ estimate it is roughly equivalent to ~25 grams of protein per scoop.

And it tastes great. Do you use the apple cider or the sour grape? Either way dat shit is da bomb.

greg, humapro is an essential amino acid product, basically like the benefits of ingesting a protein without calories (which isn’t necessarily why I/others are using), supposed to have high levels of absorption into teh musclez and all this other cool science-y stuff. Anyways, it’s cool, and tastes good, and I like it. check it out!

So I’ll be in the D.C./Baltimore area from Wednesday thru Monday morning. So I moved back from Wed to today, chest tomorrow as normal, and I’ll go in Wed. morning for some legs. Back today went fucking awesome. Finished the back portion of the workout in just about an hour. Rest took another half hour. Strength is coming back… little by little.

Am I the only one who doesn’t get the whole no calorie thing in HumaPro? If it has protein it has calories, I’ve never heard of any protein having 0.4 calories per gram. I’m not saying the product isn’t good but all the info on it just seems like such BS. In addition to the calorie thing, the claim that something from cows (i.e. whey) is only for cows and not humans is the most ridiculous argument…guess what else is from cows? Cow. I’m pretty sure no one would claim steak is for cows and not humans.

I will agree with you that if you only look at the science behind it, it doesn’t look too convincing, but IMO, it’s a product you need to try and embrace to truly see its benefits. I can tell you, from using it, that it is a great product, but I would have a hard time pointing to the studies that would clearly identify why it worked so well for me.

Bottom line, empirical results > science in this case.

Yea I mean I guess if it’s working so well for you guys the proof is there, it’s just the reasoning behind it that seems so dumb to me. The whole mother’s milk being the best protein we’ve had (until HumaPro that is…), lets just become cannibals. Human meat is obviously the best for humans. lol…but even beside that the calorie thing doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve never heard of macros having calories that different.

I’ll have to try the HumaPro myself I guess, it’s a bit pricey for me but maybe some day down the road when I’m not getting free food at college.

I feel it’s analogous to BCAAs having only trace calories (IIRC). Regardless, I’m not tripping over it. The proof is in the pudding. I’m not a fan of the advertising either, but the product works, period. Also, if you consider that you can replace an 8-10oz serving of chicken/fish/beef with 2 scoops of this stuff, it starts to seem a bit more cost effective. Anyways, your mileage may vary, but after DOHCrazy’s experiment, and how well everyone else is doing with it, I’m sold.
