Bug: Killin It

Cool Dixie, appreciate the comments. Will apply that next week.

Hit some back and biceps today. Good session overall. Energy levels start tanking when I am finishing biceps, lol. Videoed the barbell rows. w/e

Underhand lat pulldowns
100 x 15, 15
150 x 10
200 x 10

Barbell rows
135 x 12
225 x 10
315 x 7 - I dunno if I changed the form up a little or something, but I didn’t feel quite as strong on these this week. Hit my back nicely though.

Neutral grip pulldowns - these felt rly sexy with the lat pump we had going.
80 x 20
150 x 12
200 x 12

Rope pulldown to rope row thingy superset
had it on #10, did 3 of these supersets. Great pump/finishing movement.

Stretched, then moved on to biceps.

One-armed machine preacher curls
30 x 12 LR
40 x 10 LR
50 x 8 LR

Barbell curls, slow negative - started gettin pooped haha.
65 x 10
95 x 8
135 x 6

Incline DB curls - really making sure to stretch that long head
25s x 12
30s x 10
40s x 8

Dat wuz it.

Dixie - I’m not opposed to arching, but I don’t need to create the McD’s golden arches under my lower back to achieve tightness I don’t think, lol. I would love to hear what you have to say regarding the posted video?

hlss - thanks for the input. Well I was posing, so I’m keeping my abs tensed. I don’t know if I would call myself aesthetic. Thing is, I have been practicing posing for one reason or another for quite some time, and have gotten fairly decent IMO. I know what poses and angles are flattering for my body. this is one of them.
Abs are for the weak … And… AND… weeps softly. You are starting to look like you’re thinking about a show, I don’t know what your goals are at right now but you’ve got a lot going for you bodybuilding wise and your weaker spots are generally the easier to bring up ones (really just traps/upper back from the little I know on the subject, don’t know how your legs are doing). Good luck if that’s the route you’re going man.

Bear, you’re the second person today (the other being hlss09) that has commented on my traps/upper back being weak. This is news to me as I tend to think of that as one of my stronger/prettier bodyparts.

snapped these real quick.

Your upper back is thick and meaty. I should’ve been more clear. I meant that in your side chest shot, your traps didn’t look ‘up to par.’ That’s probably a posing issue though, not actual muscle size. I honestly think you have great symmetry and could easily compete. Your upper back is def a strong point in my book. You have the “V” going on in your rear db, which is amazing. And your front detls are really popping up. I think that if you dieted w/ a contest in mind you could pull off a victory fo sho. If you even want to compete.

His traps are fine. Legs and upper arms are what need the most work for aesthetics. Get a liftoff on bench if you’re gonna do technique work.

Traps look good… back in general looks good man.

You mentioned not feeling the rows as much as last week, maybe you were a little too upright?

You might feel it more if you bent at the knees a bit more and rowed the bar along your thighs to your lower abdomen…I always feel a strong contraction that way.

It’s probably more just my opinion as a powerlifter, traps have to be pretty absurd before they look inherently large to me and being as my knowledge of judging bodybuilding is pretty pedestrian and the physique that looks impressive to me fundamentally is the more thick tricep/trap heavy powerlifter build I’m probably adding that in. I am accepting that I’m probably just flat out wrong here, so apologies bug, I’m going back to my element now.

totally fasted, as in nothing? no protein shakes, no nothing!!!?
As in nothing except a head of lettuce with a little lemon juice and salt for “dinner”, lol.
I actually hit the gym one day last week while fasted… I felt fine (surprisingly)

I had never done a serious lifting session fasted before, only cardio, and it went surprisingly well. Who woulda thought?

Benching looked good to me. I’m not powerlifter but it looked solid to me.
I train completely fasted every day. I have been doing this for almmost 6months. I have gained 20lbs and put a lot of weight on all of my lifts. I really like it. If I eat before I lift I run the risk of my stomach not feeling well by the end. I just take some BCAAs as I warm up.

hlss - cool, duly noted. Maybe I need to hit traps a little harder. I’m sure competition will be in my future, but at my current level, I don’t need a panel of judges to tell me the glaring flaws in my physique.

dave - luvmufin. <3

gregron - thanks bro. if I could now get as sexy as you in that avi… on july 4th it’d be GAME, OVER.

Evan - the whole point of doing the barbell rows for me right now is to get back to doing SOME kind of “heavy” rowing variation without fucking up my lower back anymore. Ever since carl came and visited and my drunk ass picked him up, I’ve had a pinch in my left lower back region. This has persisted for quite some time. Generally though, you’re right, I like to bend over a bit more for rows, but doing them up right still feels nice. I still felt the rows fine, I just meant they didn’t feel as powerful. teach me how to douglas?

Bear - fair enough. I think a lot of that comes from just being too small everywhere though haha. 6’1", 205 is not very large. Triceps are also one of my WORST bodyparts, aesthetically, so I dunno if I’ll ever have that sexy PL’er look for you. :frowning: Big traps though I think are doable some day.

ryan - cool man, glad that’s working for you. what sorts of numbers are you putting up?

Hitting legs early today so I can attend some dinner thing with my old boss and hopefully do some networking. Fingers crossed.

Maybe on paper it doesn’t seem large, but you LOOK much bigger than that now that you are lean.

Don’t get hung up on the numbers - you look great. : )

WHOA! let me get my nails into that back…

you’re already there bro.

Good luck with the networking my man. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you as well

Nothing spectacular. I have really only been lifting and watching what I eat seriously for those 6months. Before that it was sporadic lifting for 6 years just to stay in shape. Never trying to really push it. But I hit a PR in someway shape or form every workout. Top incline bench 235x3, Push press 180x3, squat 255x7, deadlift 333x3 BB row 235x7. I had never trained legs or back up until 6months ago now I love it. Also tore my hamstring twice in high school and some legiments in my back so i have to be a bit careful.

Skynett, Widow, Aqua, Greg, <3 for all of you.

Ryan, good stuff man. Keep it up.

Did legs by myself ( :frowning: ) today. Training partner was stuck at work. Oh well. Hit it early so I could make it to that event (which went well, btw. Thx greg. got some business cards and hopefully a few leads). Only had a protein shake as my first “meal”, then humapro and 2 poptarts 10min before gym. Still, I had pretty good energy and things went well.

Squats - despite my lower back being 100%, I figured I’d give these a whirl today. Felt pretty solid (squats have always felt fine for me). Weak, but solid, haha. I worked up to 365x5, which was kinda tough, but I took the reps as deep as I could (a bit below parallel), and each was solid. I tried to video but the angle was shitty on all the warmups, and the cam tipped over on the top set. Oh well.
135 x 10, 10
225 x 6
295 x 4
335 x 4
365 x 5

Leg press w/ slow negative
3pps x 12
5pps x 12
7pps x 12 drop 5pps x 10 drop 3pps x 20 + partials

Leg extensions

One-legged plateloaded leg curls
25/side x 15 LR
45/side x 12 LR
70/side x 10 LR

DB SLDLs with a slowwww negative and deep ass stretch.
60s x 20
80s x 20
100s x 10 - the pain was retarded haha. felt like my hammie was gonna rip off the bone, but in a good way.

Seated leg curls - FINISH HIM
80 x 15, 15, 10

Standing calf raises
160 x 10 sets of 10 with 10sec rest. Arnold stylez bitches. Not a good idea since i had to go stand for 3 hours at this happy hour after… fml.

2 sets of 15 reps pulldown abs and some back extensions.

woot.

Aww fuck it. Here are da warmupz

have you considered investment banking?

I’m applying at investment banks, hlss, among other types of banks and financial services firms. Have any connections?

No -I just remember interning at a talent agency in LA in high school. It was across from a big investment banking firm. I used to smoke cigarettes, and outside I met a dude who was 23 - fresh out of college - making like 150k + a year right out of the gate. But that was before the fucked economy and all that.

BTW, I talked to my dad (who is a lawyer), and he said that lawyers out of the top 10 law schools that go to work for top Manhattan type law firms can make up to 200,000+ a year STARTING. Jesus! But they also work 75+ hour weeks…No time for lifting or living lol.
