Bug, your log is always an interesting read. Would you mind explaining the Phil Heath curls a bit? They sound similar to something I read in Dave Tate’s log a while back, but he did them standing, and made sure to keep the “non curling” arm supinated while the curling arm was moving.
Sounds like almost exactly the same thing as you are describing, only sitting on an incline bench. Non-curling arm stays supinated, other arm does 5 reps, then the curling arm stays down and supinated, the other arm does 5 reps, and so on and so forth.
I think they are a better finishing move though, and I might go even lighter on them in the future so I can get a really good squeeze. Holding DB’s that are too heavy in that supinated position can get reallllly painful, haha.
Another DB curl variation that I really like is doing DB curls but with just one DB, and reallllly focusing on destroying that arm. The other arm can help do force reps too. Got that idea from this video of amateur BBer Todd Jewell:
