Bug: Killin It

Hey Bug,

Are you still cutting? If so, are you doing a feast/leangains type thing? And what kind of stim you taking? I’m thinking of adding a fat burner pre-workout as well, but don’t know. My current protocol is that I just down 2 scoops of surge recovery before lifting, which provides me with a really good flow of energy, which is awesome! BTW, next time you go on vacation I’m tagging along…

I feel ya on the pressing strength and dieting. It seemed that when I hit a certain weight, it just dropped off a lot. I have never been a good presser either, dieting didn’t help :(.

Ya Ev, it blows. Need to train pressing smarter.

Hiss, yes I’m cutting, will do so for as long as necessary (within reason). Wouldn’t be surprised if I do 7-9 more weeks. Yes Im doing a leangains approach. I use caffeine and some other stuff sometimes pre-gym. I also take a supp similar to Surge pre-workout, and a poptart post.

I remember the first time I bench pressed

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I always play certain songs to amp me up. Picture some big mofos on here–like Evan, Way–screaming at me and panties melting with every rep (not Way’s and Evan’s panties).

It’s been working.

Pressing for me is DE-pressing. My front delt always takes over regardless of how pinched my shoulder blades are, etc.

I feel your pain, not necessarily right now, but as far as exams in general.

Just gotta get your studying done so you can take a nap and kill it tomorrow in the gym (and on the exam if it’s tomorrow).

If it is tomorrow, good luck lol.

Really solid leg day. I needed that. I was feeling a bit discouraged earlier today with my training, with the stress of school and lack of sleep not helping. I bought one of the big Monster (locarb, obvi) cans, took 2 200mg caff pills and 25mg ephedrine and I was good to go. I don’t really get wired, but I was feeling focused.

I felt really stiff at the beginning. Chest and back are super sore, so I stretched them out thoroughly, and took my time on the sumo DLs and all the early stuff.

Sumo DL warmup
135 x 5, 5, 5, 5
205 x 4, 4, 4, 4
275 x 3, 3, 3, 3

Standing calf raises
160 x 20
240 x 15
300 x 12, 12, 12

Seated leg curls - I like doing something before squats to get some blood into the legs.
50 x 20
90 x 15
130 x 10
160 x 8

Back squats - Gonna get back to my roots and train a bit heavier for the time being. I think all the volume stuff is hurting more than helping at this point. Squats felt solid until 405, which was a bit heavier than I thought it’d be. No worries.
135 x 8
225 x 6
315 x 4
365 x 4
405 x 4

While squatting, a kid was asking me technique stuff on squats, and I helped him out and showed him sumo deads, among a few other things. He seems grateful, lol.

DB SLDLs (slow negative, no lockout)
90s x 12
115s x 12, 12 - god these sets feel like they take forever!

Leg press (slow negative, no lockout - you know the drill)
2pps x 20
4pps x 12
6pps x 10 drop 5pps x 10 drop 4pps x 10 drop 3pps x 10 drop 2pps x 20 drop 1pps x BURNOUTTTTTTTTT.

Listening to this song during that leg press drop set. Started on the first drop. Enjoy (if you like club music).

Wow that post was full of typos. Sorry my brain isn’t functioning. Happy weekend err’one.

Oh and I did leg extensions before squats, lol. Sorry for the triple post.

You look fantastic and your training is always solid.

But what is with the poptarts? I’m serious, really curious why you eat them. Is it convenience? Just really like them?

Cuz poptarts are delish Babe.
I like the simple fruit flavors, I don’t need smores and cupcake and hot dog and whatever other flavors they have.

Notice how those bastards have the serving size for 1 poptart though. What the hell am I supposed to do, give the other one away? Save it for later? scoff

Lol Nikki, that made me giggle. Poptarts are amazinnnn.

I generally eat 1 poptart PWO, on leg day 2. I ran out of my pre-workout carb supp (from another site), so I’m eating a poptart pre-workout this week. Simple carbs baby!

Appreciate the kind words Veggie. Looking forward to what kind of condition I can get in 7-8 more weeks.

Looks life is getting a bit busy for you brother…lol…I feel you…Cycling down volume would probably help. Take it down, but keep intensity high…

SO for example legs…

Leg curls for 3 hard sets
Squats for 3 hard sets
then one crazy drop set on hacks
then one crazy ass set of heavy lunges…

bam end of story…in about 2 weeks you should feel like a new man provided you get sleep and aren’t living on pop tarts like my man D Tate…haha

Take care,
JM

Appreciate the advice JM. I’ll def keep that in mind and give it a go sometime.

Sex cardio last night, looked lean this morning. Waist was a lil above 34. Yay. Some vascularity and shit. 2 more inches off the waist and I’ll prob be sitting pretty.

Freeballed shoulders today. felt like changing it up. I’m gonna be super excited when I graduate and move to a new gym. I’m seriously tired of my school’s. Ok here’s what went down

warmup

Seated military - been awhile since doing these. All pressing is down so not surprised at the weak #s
bar x a lot - stiff as hell today
95 x 20
135 x 10
185 x 6
205 x 5

Lateral raises
30s x 15
40s x 12
55s x 8
70s x 8

Partial laterals
80s x 20
90s x 20 drop 40s x a bunch drop 20s x a bunch

Attempted some Kai greene style underhand BB front raises for a few sets, was meh.

Cable lateral raises, with a good pause/squeeze
#4 x 12, 12, 12

A couple sets of paused shrugs to get blood in the traps.

Want to be lean plz.

Sex Cardio FTW! My chicks on the way home from work as we speak… cardio time! lol
